sun glasses

Dear Poplar Tree Families,

I hope everyone had a great memorial day weekend and week! It was great to finally see the sun. Thanks to everyone who participated in our Principal Q&A session and PTA meeting last night. I'm excited to partner with the 2020-21 PTA board and know we will have a great school year!

Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe!

Take care,

Sue Andujar, Principal

Ms. Mertens and Ms. Hirsch

Virtual College Day 2020 was great!

Thanks to all of the teachers and students who made it happen! As promised, Poplar Tree students were also treated to a special virtual visit by our Poplar Tree alum who are graduating from Chantilly.  Here’s the Flip Grid with the Seniors special messages to our Poplar Tree Community!

BBCU Links Not Working?

We are aware that recently many links for our Blackboard Collaborate Ultra sessions were not working. We apologize for this and know that is it due to the way in which the links were originally bookmarked and updates that occur within the Chrome browser.

To successfully ensure the links are working, here are a few options:

  1. Always open up the link from the original "Invitee" email in the fcpsschools.net account. Consider starring the email for easy access! (If you can't find this original link, email Leslie Leisey at lfleisey@fcps.edu and she'll send you a new one!)
  2. Bookmark your links using the strategy shown in THESE WRITTEN DIRECTIONS or THIS VIDEO.
  3. Bookmark your email using the strategy shown in THIS VIDEO. (this might be better for our older students who have multiple teachers they meet with!)

Thank you for your continued flexibility during Distance Learning! And thanks to Zoe Rowley, 6th grade Paw Tech Squad member, for helping with our video resources!

parent input

Parents,

As we look ahead to the 2020-21 school year, we are asking for your input. We value our partnership between home and school and appreciate your thoughts on your child's learning needs.

If you feel that there is pertinent information to support your child’s success for the upcoming school year, please complete this Parent Input Form by Friday, May 29, 2020 to ensure it is used for end of the year class placements.

This system is not intended for families to request specific teachers. Requests for specific teachers will not be honored.

Class assignments are created by a team. Your child’s current teacher, specialists, and administrators collaborate to make well balanced classes where students can succeed. Poplar Tree embraces collective responsibility and all our staff are equipped to meet individual student needs. We will use this information as one piece for classroom placements.

Thank you in advance for your support,
Poplar Tree
