No School on Memorial Day

Retrieval of Student Items

On Friday, May 29th, you will be able to retrieve your child’s items from Forestville via curbside pickup during specific grade level timeframes. All student items are currently being packed up this week into a pre-labeled bag with each student’s name. There will be no access into the school during any of these pick-up times.

If driving to school, please remain in your car and at the appropriate time open your trunk/door when the items are brought to your car. School staff will be wearing masks and handling items with gloves. Please help to expedite this process by having a piece of paper with your child’s last name and teacher name written in large block letters placed in the windshield.

If you have multiple children, you may pick one of the designated assigned timeframes to retrieve all of your children’s items, but please plan on this taking a little more time. This will take longer as the items may be stored in different locations, depending upon grade-levels. However, if you have multiple children here, we want to make sure that you get all of your children items at one time without having to come back multiple times.

Remember, if your child has any library books, patrol belts or is a 6th grader with a school-issued band or strings instrument at home, we ask that you return those items during this event. If there any additional school-issued items that are not needed for distance learning, those may be returned as well.

This will be the only time to pick up items. Any remaining items after May 29th, will be discarded/donated and will not be kept by the school. Additionally, if you have medication stored in the nurse’s office, please contact Ms. Arbach to set up a date and time for pick up.

Principal-Parent Coffee

I will be hosting another virtual Principal-Parent Coffee on Thursday, May 28th at 3:30pm through Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. Agenda items will include changes and things coming up for the upcoming school year as it relates to regular Forestville school business (this part will have nothing to do with FCPS opening school year options due to Covid-19). Additionally, there will be talks around how we decide on class placements for each upcoming school year. There will be a brief Q and A session as well. Looking forward to meeting with you on May 28th.  Click here to access the session:  May 28th Parent Coffee

Forestville’s Got Talent

Among so many events that we were sad to miss this year, we were especially sad that the students did not get to show their talent and hard work in the PTA Sponsored Talent Show themed “Forestville’s Got Talent.”  We hope our students will enjoy engaging with a FlipGrid activity we have created to allow the students to showcase their talent.  You may even see an appearance from some of our staff who prepared an act for the show.  Keep creating, practicing, and sharing your passion and talent during this strange time and use the link below to stay connected with all of the Forestville Cardinals.

Medication Pick Up

If your child has medication that is currently being stored here at Forestville, that medication needs to be picked up. Please contact our assistant principal, Mari Arbach, at marbach@fcps.edu. Ms. Arbach will then be in contact with you about setting up a date and time for you to come and have a curb side pickup of the medication.

Return of Library Books, Patrol Belts and 6th Graders with School-issued Instruments

Parents, if your child has library books, a patrol belt or is a 6th grader that was given a school-issued band or strings instrument, please make sure that you drop those off at school when you come to pick up your child’s belongings on Friday, May 29th. Even if you have opted out of coming to pick up your child’s items, if your child has any of the school items described above, we would appreciate it if you would drop them off here at school on May 29th.
