Virtual College Day

col

The Chantilly Pyramid was not able to hold our annual College Day this year, but Oak Hill is still going to celebrate virtually!  Today staff members will wear clothing from their alma mater.  Your child is invited to wear clothing from a college of his or her choice or wear Oak Hill spirit wear.  The earlier a child knows and believes he or she can go to college, the more likely he or she will attend.  We look forward to continuing the college conversation with our students and families!  Thank you for your support!  Click here to watch a special College Day video from our staff!

Update Contact Information

uci

Please update your phone numbers and email addresses if they have changed so that we have the correct contact information for you.  You may do this by logging into FCPS 24-7 Learning (with the same login and password as your Parent SIS account) and going to the weCare@school section.  Follow the directions and click on your child’s name to make changes.  No changes will be sent until you click the “Send the form” button.  Thank you for your help!

2020-2021 Class Placement

cp

With the end of the school year approaching, it is time for the Oak Hill Staff to start preparing for the 2020-2021 school year.  Building a classroom of students is no easy task!  We must take many considerations into account such as heterogeneous groupings and balancing academic abilities.  We also consider how to maximize the support our resource teachers can provide students.

If you feel that there is pertinent information to support your child’s success for the upcoming school year, please complete this Parent Input Form by Monday, May 18, 2020 to ensure it is used for end of the year class placements. This system is not intended for families to request specific teachers. Class assignments are created by a team. Your child’s current teacher, specialists, and administrators collaborate to make well balanced classes where students can succeed. Oak Hill embraces collective responsibility and all of our staff are equipped to meet individual student needs.

Virtual Stress Less, Laugh More 2020

In collaboration with the specialist team, we are pleased to announce our sixth annual Stress Less, Laugh More Week starting on Monday, May 18th.  Although it will be a little different this year, we will still be highlighting the importance of a healthy lifestyle and self-care especially during these everchanging, uncertain times.  This is a great week to promote stress management, positive relationships, and help-seeking for all of our students, staff, and families.  Please see the list below for the daily themes and spirit days and stay tuned for more information on the daily news show.  We are looking forward to a great week!

Monday, May 18th:  “The Power of Music.”  Wear an Oak Hill music shirt or a music related shirt!
Tuesday, May 19th:  “Explore the Outdoors.”  Wear an Oak Hill Run Club, 5K Race, or Oak Hill t-shirt!
Wednesday, May 20th:  “Laugh More.”  Wear something that makes you smile or laugh!

Student Registration

reg

Schools remain closed to families; however, if you have a rising kindergartener or other new student to register, we would like to do a preliminary registration now.  If you know of any families that would be new to Oak Hill (that have rising kindergarteners or students in grades 1-6), please forward this information to them.  Early registration for next year is important as it ensures that we are appropriately staffed.  To begin the registration process please click here.

A Note from the Oak Hill Student Services Team

ss

We are here to support all Oak Hill students and families. We put together a list of resources that we hope will be helpful during this time. Please visit the Oak Hill ES School Counseling website to access this comprehensive Parent Resource Guide.

If your child is experiencing mental health challenges, any FCPS parent can schedule a 30 minute phone consultation with a school psychologist or school social worker. To schedule a phone consultation, parents should click this link. This service is not intended for mental health emergencies and if an emergency is suspected or indicated, please call 911.

Have your child visit the School Counseling Virtual Guidance Site for activities, fun ideas, and coping strategies. Check back weekly  for updates. Please note, students must first log in to their fcpsschools.net account.
