Orange Hunt News We HOOT

A message from your Principals

Greetings Families,

We want to start by saying a huge thank you to you- our parents and caregivers. We know that you have been trying to make Distance Learning work on your end, and we appreciate it. This is a new endeavor for all of us, and we hope we can continue to build consistent routines as we continue our school year.

We have been working very hard behind the scenes so that we can continue to provide opportunities for students to connect with teachers and classmates. The backbone of our instruction is the asynchronous opportunities our staff is providing to students. The benefits of the asynchronous material are it allows students to learn on their time, and instructional materials can be accessed by students and families at times that best work for their schedules.

Our staff continues to be a model of professionalism and positivity as they adapt to Distance Learning while balancing the demands of their personal lives. I want to say a special "Thank You" to our School-Based Technology Specialist (SBTS), Vince Wang. He has worked tirelessly to support staff and families through the challenges of Distance Learning. We are fortunate to have Vince as part of our OHES community.

We want to thank you for everything you are doing to support distance learning at home. We had four excellent days of learning this week. Routines have begun, schedules are in place, and most technology bumps have been worked out by staff and students. If your child is still experiencing any technology issues, please send an email to his/her teacher so they can support you. Please take care and stay safe.

Your Partner Principals,

Karen Tuttle, Kate Austin and Megan Tempel-Milner

Staff Appreciation!

This is officially Staff Appreciation week. Our staff loves your children and work tirelessly to provide them with their best. Please take the time this week to let the staff know just how thankful you are for the work that they do.

For the fifth year, the Virginia Lottery is encouraging students, parents and the general public to send thank you notes to Virginia's deserving public school teachers during National Teacher Appreciation Week, May 4 – 8. Your favorite teacher could win a Virginia vacation and prizes for your school! Make your favorite teacher smile with a digital thank-you note featuring custom artwork by the three student art contest winners.

Student Registration

Schools remain closed to families; however, if you have a rising kindergartner or other new student to register, we would like to do a preliminary registration now.  If you know of any families that would be new to Orange Hunt (that have rising kindergartners or students in grades 1-6), please forward this information to them.  Early registration for next year is important as it supports the number of teachers for which we are staffed.

To register your child for school, please email laakofiohite@fcps.edu  with “Registration” in the subject line.  If you are able to fill out the registration packet online, save it to your device, and attach it to the email to send back to us, that is the preferred option.  If you are not able to do that, please let us know when you might be available for a phone interview.  After we receive your email, we will reach out with any additional questions. If you have any questions or concerns about registration, please email Mrs. Hite.
