Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

There has been no other time where the dedication of a staff has meant more than right now. Thank yous are in order to my steadfast staff at Oak Hill!  As you know, our teachers, specialists, instructional assistants, itinerants, assistant principal, custodians, food workers and office staff work hard every day to support the students at Oak Hill.  The last six weeks have truly been a testament to their dedication, swiftness and #allIN attitude! They have endured last minute training, endless PD, virtual meetings, re-starts, false starts, tears, requests, more training and collaboratively planning with their teams! And in the same breath, our teachers have held their heads high while missing their students tremendously. It would have been easy to not persevere. Did I mention that with all this going on they, too, were caregivers, homeschool moms and dads living with essential personnel or unemployed spouses? Our own Oak Hill family experienced Covid19 sickness and others had a loved one who has suffered from this wicked virus. But the only way to get through is to get through with the help of family.

So, I ask that you pause for a moment and let someone at Oak Hill know what it is that you have recognized and appreciated this school year.  One thank you goes a long way!  And finally thank you to all the parents who have joined us in the co-teacher role over the last six weeks. Together, we make an amazing team!  The Oak Hill staff and I are so appreciative of your partnership and support.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to further support the Distance Learning experience at Oak Hill. What can I do for you? My door is always open!

Sincerely,

Holly DeVore, Principal

Student Registration

reg

Schools remain closed to families; however, if you have a rising kindergartener or other new student to register, we would like to do a preliminary registration now.  If you know of any families that would be new to Oak Hill (that have rising kindergarteners or students in grades 1-6), please forward this information to them.  Early registration for next year is important as it ensures that we are appropriately staffed.  To begin the registration process please click here.

A Note from the Oak Hill Student Services Team

We are here to support all Oak Hill students and families. We put together a list of resources that we hope will be helpful during this time. Please visit the Oak Hill ES School Counseling website to access this comprehensive Parent Resource Guide.

If your child is experiencing mental health challenges, any FCPS parent can schedule a 30 minute phone consultation with a school psychologist or school social worker. To schedule a phone consultation, parents should click this link. This service is not intended for mental health emergencies and if an emergency is suspected or indicated, please call 911.

Have your child visit the School Counseling Virtual Guidance Site for activities, fun ideas, and coping strategies. Check back weekly  for updates. Please note, students must first log in to their fcpsschools.net account.
