Dear Bee Families,
Thank you so much for your support as we have been working to implement Distance Learning at Herndon Elementary. It has been a rocky start with technology, but I’m hopeful that we are on an upward trajectory!
After much discussion, Grades 3-6 have decided to continue using Blackboard Collaborate Ultra for their virtual face-to-face instruction. They believe that now that it is up and running, it will be a good platform for working with your children. Having said that, we are working on a “backup plan” and will be training our students on how to get into and use Google Classroom Meet.
Another bit of news, I’m planning to stay on as principal until December. Douglas Tyson, Region 1 Assistant Superintendent, asked me to stay to provide continuity during this pandemic. There isn’t a place that I’d rather be than serving this community!
I miss getting big hugs from your children! I miss dressing up like a Zebra for pajama day! I miss seeing you at our school events or picking up your children at the end of the day!

Progress Reports Update
Progress Reports for this year’s 3rd and 4th quarters will be produced centrally for all elementary schools. Third quarter grades should be finalized on Friday, May 8 at 11:59 p.m. and will be visible in ParentVUE and StudentVUE on Saturday, May 9 at 6 a.m. We anticipate the printed report cards will be provided to the postal service by May 23. Parents and/or guardians at the ES level do not have the “Go Paperless” option this school year.
Deadline to Order a HES Yearbook is this Monday, April 27
We will not be ordering extra books to sell this year! This is your last chance. Due to this unprecedented year, we feel our students and staff may want to have this special memory in the years to come. Therefore, ONLINE ORDERING is the only way to secure one.
