KG 4.19.20 Update

A Note from Administration

Dear Parents,

We are hopeful to return to virtual (synchronous) instruction!  Teachers have worked to update the Blackboard Learning 24/7 sites to incorporate a BBCU button.  Your child should log into his/her Blackboard 24/7 account and click on the BBCU button in order to view the live instruction.  We will continue to reach out to connect with students to ensure they are able to engage in both the synchronous and asynchronous learning.

Some tips for accessing the Blackboard Learning 24/7 and the BBCU:

  • Here is a quick video clip that you may follow to support your child in accessing the above platforms.
  • Use Google Chrome browser and make it your default browser.
  • FCPS has a webpage that also provides updated information on various support with respect to Blackboard Learning 24/7.

We look forward to continuing the learning and know that we will get through this!  Our teachers are committed to supporting all students as is your administration.  Let’s presume the positive and lean in together.  We are here to help and support.  Do not hesitate to reach out!

Warmly,

Holly McGuigan               Pier McGrath                   Tia Hawkins

Positivity:  The character strength for the week of April 20th- 25th is Appreciation of Excellence and Beauty. Appreciating beauty and excellence means that you notice and value the world’s beauty and people’s skills. This is the ability to identify and enjoy that which is admirable in the world. There are three types of goodness which positive psychology focuses: physical beauty (e.g. a sunset, song, or building); an exceptional skill or talent; and moral goodness (e.g. a character strength). Appreciation of beauty can generate awe; appreciation of a skill can generate admiration; and appreciation of moral goodness can generate moral elevation. The positive character strength of appreciating beauty and excellence can help support us through our current stressful time.
