NYC

Can you draw a story using four or more pictures without words? No words needed!  Don't forget to have a beginning, middle, and end.  Share your story.

Tuesday- April is National Poetry Month!  How many poems do you know? Say a poem to someone. It can be a poem learned with your classroom teacher, a nursery rhyme like "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" or "Hey, Diddle Diddle" or maybe a music room song.

Wednesday-Sing or say the nursery rhymes we learned yesterday.

Imagine you can fly as high as the wind or a bird.  Where would you go?  Write a short poem about it.  It doesn't have to rhyme.

Thursday-Make an acrostic poem using your name or another word.  Example for the name Anna:  Active, Nice, Neat, Artsy

Music

Monday-Listen to a piece of music and draw or write how it makes you feel, what it makes you think of. Take a picture of your drawing or writing and email it to Mrs. Winner (rkwinner@fcps.edu) or Ms. Spiess-Ki (amspiess@fcps.edu).

Tuesday- Tempo in music is speed -fast and slow.  Wash your hands while chanting "Bate Bate Chocolate".  Chant it two times-one time fast, one time slow.

Wednesday-Dynamics in music are loud and soft.  Pick a song to sing strong and loud, and then sing that same song gentle and soft. Today is Earth Day!  Think about the sounds you hear outside-water, animals, wind, etc..  Can you think of two examples of nature sounds that are loud, and two examples that are soft?

Thursday-Explore Tempo & Dynamics:  Think of your favorite music or listen to music you have at home and find a song to match each tempo and dynamic we explored this week:  Fast, Slow, Loud, Soft.

Creative Movement

Monday-Do you know how trees grow? First, let's think how our bodies can become seeds. What shape does a seed have? There are many shapes, and sizes.  Today we will become Mango seeds. The Mango seed is kind of curved, long, and a little wide.  Can you make your body curve long, and a little wide?

Tuesday- How do trees grow?  First, we begin with being a mango seed; we move the shapes in three levels: high, medium, and low. Second, the seeds begin to grow. Can you make your body curvy, twisted, and stretch like a root?

Wednesday-Picture in your mind a sprout.  Begin by lying on the ground and gently pushing the dirt off your seed.  Can you create a movement pattern that you are growing tall?

Thursday- Today, we will grow flowers and fruits and put all the movements together. Can you show how your hands can be flowers? Can you move them in different directions?  Second, can you show how your body can look like a mango?

FLES

Monday-Look outside and write the names of the colors you see. Answer the question:  What are the colors of the rainbow?
