Sangster Virtual Classes Cancelled Today, Wednesday, 4-15-20

Update from the Principal

Dear Sangster Families,

All live instruction is canceled for today. This also includes virtual office hours.  Teachers have access to email today if you should have specific questions for them.

Late Tuesday evening we were notified that upgrades are required to the security measures in place within Blackboard Collaborate.  The purpose of today’s two-hour delay from FCPS was to enhance security measures. These new processes will require time for both staff members to make significant modifications to their Blackboard accounts.  Teachers have already spent most of the morning learning about these new security measures. They will need the rest of the day to re-establish their links on the Blackboard 24/7 page, and to make sure they are all securely functioning in connection with Blackboard Collaborate Ultra.

Students may work with their learning packets and teacher-generated online learning materials if you are currently able to access them in Blackboard 24/7. Due to the number of staff throughout FCPS working in Blackboard 24/7 we have noticed some sporadic connectivity issues.

On behalf of FCPS and the Sangster Staff, I apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your flexibility. We want nothing more than to be working with your children.   I recognize that this may pose an inconvenience with a temporary break in a desperately needed routine, but I assure you that these technical changes are necessary to ensure a safe learning environment for our students moving forward.

The safety of your children and a safe learning environment for all is the current priority.  I anticipate there will be an email sent centrally later today with further information.

Thank you again for your patience as we make these security adjustments.

Sincerely,

Lisa M. Reddel
