Change in Distance Learning Schedule Tomorrow, April 15

Good evening, Falcon Families.

Tonight you should have received the email below from Fairfax County Public Schools.  To accommodate for the two-hour delay and to reduce scheduling confusion, we will be combining virtual learning tomorrow with regularly scheduled office hours.  Please plan to join your child's teacher's scheduled office hours time tomorrow, should you be able, for distance learning activities. Asynchronous, independent, learning activities continue to be posted to our Blackboard 24/7 site to use in conjunction with the FCPS learning packets.

We appreciate your flexibility as we navigate this new learning environment while keeping student safety at the forefront of our minds.  We have loved seeing our Falcons today and look forward to seeing them again tomorrow!

Fondly,

Jamie Meier & Jenny Cunneen

From Fairfax County Public Schools:

Dear Families,

Thank you to all of the parents and students who joined us for our first day of distance learning. As you know, there were a few technical issues with the Blackboard learning system. We are hopeful that the issues encountered today have been resolved.

The vast majority of classroom experiences were favorable and positive today. We are now in the process of enhancing security in the Blackboard system to prevent any disruptions during teacher-led instruction. As a result, tomorrow's teacher-led instruction at the middle school and elementary school levels will be delayed two hours to allow for teachers to activate the security upgrades.  High school office hours will begin no earlier than 10 a.m. Students will receive a message from their teachers explaining how they can join the virtual learning sessions.

Parents, please take a moment to share with your children the importance of respecting the space all of our students and teachers are in right now due to the pandemic. We want distance learning to be an enjoyable experience for all. We apologize for any disruptive behavior your students may have witnessed today.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.
