Families First Coronavirus Response Act

This new legislation is one of several federal laws that focuses on addressing  citizens' needs surrounding health and employment. The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) introduces two new pay/leave benefits for employees with paid sick leave or expanded family medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. There are two main components of the Act: Emergency Paid Sick Leave (EPSL) and Emergency Family Medical Leave Expansion (E-FMLE). These programs will add to other employee leave benefits such as FCPS sick accruals or the classic Family Medical Leave Act. Get more information about FFCRA

Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act

If you have elected to participate in the FCPS-sponsored 403(b) and 457(b) Defined Contribution (DC) program, and you have been directly impacted by COVID-19, you may have increased access to your DC account funds under the new Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES). This act enhances plan participant distributions and loan provisions when the employee (or spouse) has been directly affected by COVID-19. Please contact your account representative at EMPOWER, VALIC, or TIAA CREF, to obtain more information on CARES. Note: These provisions apply only to defined contribution plans–not defined benefit retirement plans such as ERFC, VRS, and FCERS.
