Distance Learning Begins on Tuesday, April 14th
Below is the schedule for Virtual Instruction and Virtual Office Hours which will occur Monday - Thursday. Fridays are dedicated to Team Planning and Staff Meetings.
Dear Crestwood Students and Families,
We hope you are staying safe and healthy! We miss our students and are looking forward to connecting with them starting on April 14th! Grade level teams have been collaborating to create a schedule for synchronous (online learning with teacher/video via Blackboard Collaborate) and asynchronous (Independent Learning Activities) to support student learning during our closure. Virtual Teaching and Office Hours will take place on Monday – Thursday. Fridays will be reserved for Team Planning and Staff Meetings while students can work independently using Blackboard activities. The Virtual Teaching schedule is also posted on the Crestwood School Website.
We know that helping our students keep a routine and structure to their day can support them during these uncertain times. Your child’s teacher has created learning schedules, to include times for online instruction that will be recorded and office hours. They will also share the link to their Blackboard Collaborative Ultra link which will be used for Virtual Instruction and Office Hours.
During Office Hours teachers will be available to connect with students in order to support their learning and understanding of the content either individually or in small groups, or for more personalized instruction for students. As parents, if you would like to connect or communicate, teachers can set up a phone conference or virtual conference. Please email your child’s teacher to set up an appointment. You can use the Staff Directory on the Crestwood Elementary School Website to send a them message.
Classroom Teachers and Specialists will be posting assignments and additional resources to our Crestwood ES Digital Learning Site. There are also many resources on our Crestwood Website. Directions on how to log into this site are posted on our Crestwood Website under How to Log into Blackboard. Our website also includes the Crestwood Virtual Learning Schedule, Using Dreambox Math at Home, Crestwood Web Resources, FCPS Learning from Home Resources, and Distance Learning Supports for Families and Caregivers.
We will continue collaborating to support you and your child to provide meaningful learning experiences. Please check our Crestwood Elementary Twitter to stay connected with us. Should you have any questions about any of the activities or content, do not hesitate to email your child’s teacher.
Please remember that Distance Learning is new to all of us so the expectation is to do the best that we can with what we have in this moment. This is a learning experience for teachers, students and parents/caregivers. We need to keep in mind the reality of families, students, teachers, and staff. Embrace this precious time you have with your family and seek out the positives of this period of time. We need to remember most importantly our OWL Expectations:

Nosotros esperamos que ustedes se estén manteniendo seguros y saludables! Hemos estado extrañando mucho a nuestros estudiantes y esperamos conectarnos con ellos a partir del 14 de abril! Los equipos de cada grado han estado trabajando para crear un horario sincronizo (aprendizaje en línea con la profesora/video a través del Blackboard) y asincrónico (actividades de aprendizaje independiente) para apoyar el aprendizaje de los estudiantes durante nuestro cierre.
