Irving Middle School is a Grab and Go location

Irving Middle School is one of the Grab and Go locations. We are serving breakfast from 8:00-10:30 and lunch from 10:30-2:00. Meals are free to all students and $2.00 for adults, Monday - Friday.

Continuity of Learning Plan

FCPS has developed a plan for continuity of learning while school is closed. Our goal is for students to read, write, communicate, and engage in continued learning experiences during this period. The first two weeks of school closure (Monday, March 16, to Friday, March 27) will not include any teacher-directed instruction. Students can participate in optional, self-directed learning activities posted on FCPS 24-7 Blackboard. Student work is not required or graded. These activities will be across the content areas so each child can choose activities that suit their interests.

Additionally, FCPS cable channels with learning activities are now available. New instructional videos are currently being developed and recorded and will be added to the programming shortly; Channel 25 includes middle school programming.

After the first two-week school closure period, teacher-directed virtual instruction may be considered. Policies and timelines for third quarter grading are under consideration.

Here are some tips to help you support your child during distance learning:

  • Establish routines and expectations. Balance screen time and non-screen time activities.
  • Students should take brain breaks and move regularly as they study.
  • Discuss what your child is learning and ask questions.
  • Establish times for quiet and reflection.
  • Remain mindful of your child’s stress.

Parents can begin to prepare by ensuring they have a Student Information System (SIS) Parent Account and are able to login to FCPS 24-7 Learning: Parent View. If you do not have a Student Information System (SIS) Parent account, please click here to register for an account. An activation key will be sent to you to complete your registration, along with the simple steps to set up your account. Your username and password for the Student Information System(SIS) and FCPS 24/7 Learning: Parent View will be the same.

Your Views and Opinions Are Important to Us

This spring all Irving Middle School parents/guardians will be contacted through email with a link to the FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form Online. This survey is part of the Performance Evaluation Program and offers parents/guardians an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various issues related to our school.  These issues include instructional leadership, school climate, human resources management, organizational management, communication and community relations and professionalism.

The survey will be collected online between March 12 and March 26.  When you receive an email from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the survey.  Your opinions matter.
