Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

As you saw from our earlier messaging, the annual Oak Hill-Lees Corner Basketball game has been postponed and we hope to reschedule this wonderful tradition this school year. I know that our 6th graders are disappointed, and I am too. They have looked forward to this since kindergarten! The most important thing I am charged with as Principal is keeping your child at the forefront of every decision I make. I routinely ask myself, is this in the best interest of children? Principal Sloan and I feel confident that we made the right call for our combined student bodies. I want to personally thank all volunteers and staff who have given their time to get students ready to shoot baskets, play instruments, sing the Star-Spangled Banner, cheer at halftime or sell tickets and spirit wear. You are the driving force that makes Oak Hill a special place!

Over the last few weeks, Oak Hill staff has been briefed on how to properly respond to the COVID-19 virus and other viruses that present like flu. We are following all Fairfax County Health Department guidelines and have been thoroughly deep cleaning classrooms and common spaces and providing time to wash hands, especially before eating. Wipes and hand sanitizer are available, and students have reviewed proper hand washing on our WOAK news show.

A variety of resources about coronavirus, including "Talking to Children about COVID-19," a handout about COVID-19 from the FCHD, and updated FAQs have been posted here.  Please reach out to me personally with concerns or questions. Oak Hill is here to help. And in these times, please know your child will continue learning in a safe and productive learning environment.

Sincerely,

Holly DeVore, Principal

Your Views and Opinions Are Important to Us!

This spring all Oak Hill parents will be contacted through email with a link to the FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form Online. This survey is part of the Performance Evaluation Program and offers parents an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various issues related to our school.  These issues include instructional leadership, school climate, human resource management, organizational management, communication and community relations and professionalism.

The survey will be collected online between March 12 and March 26.  When you receive an email from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the survey.  Your opinions matter!
