Coronavirus Updates

As COVID-19 circumstances continue to evolve, Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is working with the Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) to implement sound public health recommendations and share updated information with the community, as it becomes available.  In an effort to help our families remain calm during this time, we invite you to stay informed of the latest developments on the FCPS coronavirus webpage. This page also contains fact sheets, videos, and other resources that you may find useful.  Additional information is available from the Fairfax County Health Department  and the CDC.

Your Views and Opinions Are Important to Us!

This spring all Carson MS parents will be contacted through email with a link to the FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form. This survey is part of the Performance Evaluation Program and offers parents an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various issues related to our school.  These issues include instructional leadership, school climate, human resources management, organizational management, communication and community relations and professionalism.

The survey will be collected online between March 12 and March 26.  When you receive this email from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the survey.  Your opinions matter and we thank you for taking the time.

IB Night at South Lakes HS

Rising 9th grade students are invited to South Lakes High School March 18 at 3:15PM to meet with current IB students and learn about the IB program.  Meet us in the cafeteria for small group discussions with the people who really know the ins and outs of the IB options at South Lakes High School – our fabulous students. We look forward to meeting our future Seahawks!

"Go Paperless" Report Card Option

Now Available

Starting with 3rd quarter, high school and middle school parents will now have the option to “Go Paperless” in ParentVUE and receive only online report cards. To take advantage of the paperless options, parents/guardians will need to log into ParentVUE, then go to “My Account” and select "Go Paperless!". This process is the only way to keep a paper report card from being generated for students at the secondary level. All parents who share the same address as the student must have a SIS ParentVue account and must select the paperless option.

Academic Advising

At this time, counselors have met with all 7th and 8th grade students one-on-one to go over course selections for next year. To review your child’s selections, log into SIS ParentVUE and click “Course Requests” on the left. Please use this week to talk to your child about their courses. Please note that it requires a firm commitment and staffing is based on students' course selections. Contact your child counselor for any questions. Also, your child's teachers are great resources if you have any questions regarding core subjects and/or intervention courses.

SOL Testing Dates at Carson MS

Testing will begin each day at 7:30AM.  Please be sure your child arrives to school on time.  Also please avoid any appointments during the morning hours, as students cannot be dismissed from a testing room once the test has begun.  Also, please remind your son or daughter that no electronic devices will be allowed in testing locations. As always, these items should be secured in lockers during testing.

You can help your child do their best by ensuring they get a good night's rest and have a healthy breakfast each day!
