Did you know...As adolescents start making their own decision on things like clothing, music, friends, make sure their health is included in the decision making process. The National Institute of Health (NIH) published “Taking Charge of Your Heath: A Guide for Teenagers.” Here is the full article

https://www.niddk.nih.gov/health-information/weight-management/take-charge-health-guide-teenagers

Juniors will take the Writing SOL from March 5-10. Students will not be allowed to use personal devices on the SOL, and the school will not provide laptops to students who do not bring their compliant and checked laptops on their assigned test day. Students without a school issued laptop on their assigned test day will have their SOL test rescheduled. Please remind your junior student to bring their school issued laptop and charger to school on March 5-10

What are the Langley Courtyard Renovation Plans?

Over Spring Break, Wheat's Landscaping will transform our Langley Courtyard from concrete and scrub grass into a nature-filled sanctuary. But we are only half-way to our target fundraising goal.

Please don't wait! Your generous donation is needed now to turn the landscape vision into reality. The more raised over the next few weeks, the greener our Courtyard will be.

To help, donate a leaf or two to the Langley Legacy Tree, the beautiful wall sculpture that is “growing” in the Langley Lobby.

Choose your engraved message. Leaves make wonderful tributes to students, teachers, family and friends. Giving levels are copper leaf ($50), silver leaf ($100), gold leaf ($200), and acorn or bird ($500). With a $1,000+ donation, your family's name is included on the Courtyard Benefactor Plaque, which will be installed next to the Tree.

Placement tests needed for students taking Dual Enrollment (DE) courses next year.

Please know that LHS will be hosting 2 opportunities for students to take the NVCC placement exam here at LHS.  (Students who have signed up for DE courses by 2/18/20 received an email with the information below as well). This portion of the DE process is as simple as 1-2-3.

  1. Before you can proceed you must provide a NOVA student ID number (ID’s are 7 digits and begin with the number 7).  All FCPS students planning to enroll in a DE class must apply to NOVA at https://apply.vccs.edu/.  Instructions for applying to NOVA can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/y59smduq
  2. Determine if you need to placement exam using the chart here: Substitute Placement Exam Chart
  1. 3. If you are not eligible for a substitute and you have your NOVA ID, you may register for our one of our testing options here:  https://forms.gle/cbqffjuLBEEQtqCY9 or plan on taking at the NOVA Campus.
