Dear Hayfield Families,

It is hard to believe that we are almost 4 weeks into the third quarter.  Please make sure that you are checking in with your child daily about what they are learning in school and their goals.  Also, please make sure that your child is reading at least 20 minutes every night.

Emergency Care Form Updates

If your telephone numbers, email addresses or emergency contacts have changed since the first day of school, please update them online-- log into 24-7 Learning and update the information through weCare@schoolAddress changes may only be made by the school office. If your address has changed, please submit new proof of residency and fill out a new registration form for each child.

 


 

Jump Rope for Heart

Our Jump Rope for Heart event is coming up at the beginning of March.

March 4---Grades 4--6 3:30—4:15 p.m. in the gym

March 5---Grades 1--3 3:30—4:15 p.m. in the gym

All participating students must turn in a permission slip before or at the event. Parents are to pick up their child/children in the gym at 4:15 p.m.

Everyone is encouraged to collect donations for the American Heart Association. All donation envelopes are due to Mrs. Drickey by March 10 – checks only, NO CASH. All checks are made payable to the American Heart Association.  Remember donations can be made online as well. If anyone needs a collection envelope and/or the permission slip, please contact Mrs. Drickey at RIDrickey@fcps.edu

SCA Canned Food Drive

Remember the SCA will be sponsoring our annual canned food drive through February 28.

Students can bring in all kinds of non-perishable items. Also accepted are bags, boxes, and plastic items. No breakable items please. Items of need: sugar, oil, cereal, flour, ketchup, mayonnaise, salad dressing, jelly, coffee, peanut butter, diapers (sizes 4-6), laundry supplies, dish washing detergent, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene supplies, and toilet paper.

The SCA appreciates your donations and support with our canned food drive. The less fortunate families of our area will certainly benefit from your generosity.

 


 

Art Room Donations Needed

The art room is in need of the following supplies for our art classes and projects. If you can donate the following items, please send them in with your child or drop them off in the office labeled art room. Thank you!!

  • Mesh produce bags
  • Plastic produce bags
  • Old shoelaces
  • Ribbons
  • Clean yogurt cups (especially Yoplait)
  • Glass baby food jars

 

Health Room Survey

The Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) employs school health aides and public health nurses who provide school health services to the students in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). To determine the quality of these services, a survey has been developed by the FCHD to be shared with all parents or guardians and school staff members who interact with the school health rooms. This may include principals, school counselors, and main office staff members. The survey has been approved for distribution by the FCPS’ Internal Survey Advisory Committee.

Magnet School Application and Lottery Information

The Magnet Program registration window will be open from March 3, 2020 through March 30, 2020.  No late applications will be accepted.

Families wanting to apply for the Magnet Lottery must have a SIS account.  If a student is not currently enrolled in FCPS, registration at the base school for the upcoming school year will be required.  

A separate application must be completed for each sibling applying.  Legacies also must apply to be eligible.  Acceptances into one of the magnet programs is not transferable into another program or school.

As stated in Notice 5922, a one-time pupil placement application fee applies for students accessing special programs outside of their base school for World Language Immersion or Magnet School Programs.  This $100 fee must be paid upon acceptance to the program.  For more information, please visit the Magnet Lottery Fees - Frequently Asked Questions webpage.
