February 2020 - West Potomac Student Services Newsletter

Academic Advising

  • Counselors have been meeting with students individually since mid-January to discuss and select courses for next year. If students were absent for their advising meeting, their counselor will send a pass to meet.  Students are also encouraged to follow up with their school counselor.
  • Parents can review course selection for 2020-21 via their ParentVue account - be sure to login using a web browser (not available on mobile app version) and look under "course requests."
  • All course requests must be in by March 9th. At that point there will be a freeze on 2020-21 class changes through spring break for staffing purposes.  Students may make adjustments to their course requests on a space available basis from April 14 – May 15.  All requests are final as of May 15th.
  • The priority deadline to register for Academy courses is February 28th.  If a student missed their counselor appointment for any reason and wish to sign up for an academy course, they need to see their counselor by February 28.
  • Students who have chosen to take a Dual Enrollment course next year must turn in their Intent form by April 9th. For any questions about the Dual Enrollment process, students should see their school counselor.
