Eyes Up Phones Down

 

The Fairfax County Communities of Trust Committee is sponsoring the Fox 5 Eyes Up Phones Down event on March 3rd at the nZone, located at 14555 Lee Rd, Chantilly VA 20151 from 7AM -12PM. This event is designed to raise awareness of distracted driving. According to the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, in 2019,15,985 individuals were involved in a crash related to distracted driving in Fairfax County.

 

Attending students will have the opportunity to participate in activities designed to inform them of dangers associated with distracted and impaired driving as well as be provided exposure to a variety of public safety career fields.  Students will engage with community agency representatives and sponsors to include, but not limited to, local law enforcement, Fairfax Fire Department, Virginia Department of Transportation, and State Farm Insurance.

 

Students interested in attending shall provide a signed Parental Authorization and Acknowledgement of Risk for Field Trip form and nZone Waiver to Ms. Miller in the Health and PE Department by February 28, 2020. If you would like to attend, please email Ms. Miller at MVMiller1@fcps.edu and she can provide you with the authorization forms.

 

Due to nZone capacity limitations, only the first 50 students who return the signed parental authorization form will be able to attend. FCPS transportation as well as student lunch will be provided free of charge.  Attending students shall arrive at the school the morning of March 3, 2020 at 6:30 am to board the bus. Buses will return students to the school 12:30 pm.
