This week at Dogwood all students from kindergarten through 6th grade participated in a review of the Students Rights & Responsibilities guidelines. Students discussed what it means to be Caring Principled Communicators during the school day. If you would like to review these expectations at home the link to our FCPS web page is below.

All of our students are working, learning, and growing daily. They share their learning in different ways on different days. Our students in grades 3-6 will participate in Virginia Standards of Learning assessments from May 5th-June 5th. It is important that students are present daily. Please avoid making appointments on these days so that they have the uninterrupted time that they need to demonstrate all that they have learned.

Primary Years Programme at Dogwood
We invite you to our next Coffee Talk on February 26 at 9:15. We will share about the Primary Years Programme (PYP) at Dogwood and applying to be an authorized IB World School in the spring. We will also share about the new Dogwood PYP Progress Report that will be sent home on March 12.

We are happy to announce that we are now taking registrations for students who will be entering kindergarten in the 2020-2021 school year.
The student must be five years of age on or before September 30, 2020, to register in FCPS this coming year. Parents will need to provide the original birth certificate, a copy of their deed or lease with their name on it as proof of residency, the Virginia School Entrance Health Form completed and signed by a U.S. physician. The physical must be dated within twelve months of starting school.
Please click on these links to review the FCPS registration requirements and access the registration forms bundle. Registration packets are available for pick up at the school office Monday – Friday between 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, as well.
Parents and rising kindergarten students are invited to join us on Wednesday, April 3, from 5:30-7:00 pm for our Kindergarten Orientation.

Dogwood Hours:
8:35am: Doors open
Bus riders and walkers enter through the front door and Kiss and Ride students enter through 5. All students go directly to classrooms.
8:50 am: Instruction begins
3:35 pm: Dismissal
Any changes to Dismissal procedures must be communicated before 3 pm.
