SR&R Update and Surveys

SR&R Updates on Friday, February 21st

On Friday, February 21, all Franklin students will be taking part in a  mid-year review of the FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities that will be facilitated by school administrators. Review sessions with grade-level teams will take place in the theater throughout the school day. Additionally, all middle and high school students will review the sections of the SR&R video that address bullying and sexual and gender-based harassment. Thank you for supporting our school's efforts to foster a safe and positive atmosphere at Franklin.

Positivity Project VIA Survey to be available on Tuesday, February 25th

On Tuesday, February 25, the VIA Survey will be available to students whose family opted-in to have their student take the VIA youth survey. It will be made available to opt-in students through the grade-level Google Classrooms. The VIA youth survey is designed for children aged 10-17. It takes about 15 minutes to complete. Students take the survey by entering a class code provided by their teacher. Once they enter the class code, they are prompted to provide their first and last names so the teacher can match results to the student. Once the survey is complete, the teacher provides the results to the student.

Parents and guardians who opted their student to take the survey may want to prompt their student to complete the survey and share the results with them. Taking the survey allows students to access an individualized report about their strengths within the framework of the Positivity Project.  This can help students to make individual connections to the character traits and lessons, which can be empowering and provide personal meaning.

Parents and/or guardians may preview the survey by going to VIA’s website at: (www.viacharacter.org/www/Character-Strengths-Survey).

National SpeakUp Technology Survey available until Thursday, February 21st

The Department of Information Technology is sponsoring the annual SpeakUp survey on digital technology. All parents, students, teachers, and administrators are invited to participate in this national survey. The SpeakUp survey helps us gauge how technology is being used to support learning and identify areas of success and challenge. We can also see how FCPS compares to other school districts via the national results of this survey. Please consider taking this survey by visiting https://Speakup.Tomorrow.org/D/ZHCA and selecting your school from the drop-down menu. The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete and will be available until February 21. The survey is voluntary and anonymous. We hope you will make your voice heard and help us with planning for technology in the future.  For more information about the survey, please visit: https://tomorrow.org/Speakup/.
