Message from the Principal

Dear Wolftrap Families,

We recently celebrated our 100th day of school, Valentine's Day, and Presidents’ Day. I hope that your children shared some of the fun activities in which they participated.

PORTRAIT OF A GRADUATE SKILLS: As a part of our School Innovation and Improvement Plan, Wolftrap students continue to practice Portrait of a Graduate attributes and skills across our classrooms. Your children are learning how to identify themselves as a communicator, collaborator, critical and creative thinker, goal-directed and resilient individual, or ethical and global citizen. FCPS has created resources for families, and I highly recommend that you review these skills and how you can support them at home. Please click here to learn more!

STUDENT INTENT FORMS: Each Wolftrap student received a “Student’s Intention for the Next School Year” form. For planning purposes for the 2020-21 school year, this form needs to be filled out for every student and returned no later than February 28. It is imperative that we know your child’s intention so that our projection numbers are accurately portrayed to the county and we receive appropriate staffing. If your enrollment plans change subsequent to submitting the form, please contact the main office.

KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION: We will hold this annual event on Monday, April 13 at 1:00 PM. Registration for the Orientation is now open and the form can be found on our website: https://wolftrapes.fcps.edu/student-services/kindergarten-orientationtimelines

RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS: In case you are not aware, the Wolftrap website contains a page dedicated to student resources to support learning at home. This includes all of the Wolftrap subscriptions such as Lexia, DreamBox math, MyOn, Wixie and coding sites. Additionally, there are websites for typing and internet safety: https://wolftrapes.fcps.edu/student-links

We look forward to seeing the many student projects that will be on display at the Edison Expo this Wednesday evening!

Sincerely,

Teresa Khuluki
Principal

Wolftrap PTA

Clearly we are missing the cold, lots of families are already signed up for Wolftrap’s Skate Night at the Reston SkateQuest. Hope to see you there and at Edison Expo tomorrow night!

Within Fairfax County and our pyramids, there are few items of note. The first is an AAP survey to collect parent input for the school board, more details below.  Advocacy Night, March 31 7-9pm, dinner at 6:30, learn about the school budget and hear and share ideas and concerns. Officials from the Board of Supervisors and the School Board will be there. Last, speakers within our pyramid are presenting on everything from mental health to vaping. Check them out below!

As we continue through a great year, we are grateful to the volunteers that make terrific things happen at Wolftrap. If you are new to the school or new to volunteering, we want to include you! There are many ways to get involved that fit your time and schedule, check out 2020-2021 volunteer opportunities.

Last to encourage evening attendance, we are trying a new time and offering pizza. We know that evenings are hard with work and activities, solving for dinner may help. Please join us for an evening PTA meeting Thursday, March 5 at 6pm in the cafeteria. We’ll hear updates from the administration, the PTA and committees on all the Wolftrap happenings. Look forward to seeing you there!

Hallway Art Display

Ms. Mallino is looking for 2-3 volunteers to come in once a month to rotate out hallway art. Done the third Friday of the month, anytime before 1 pm.  Signup here
