Dear Stenwood Families,
Yesterday we celebrated the 100th day of school! We are officially 100 days smarter, 100 days more resilient, and 100 days more knowledgeable about each other!
This week’s Positivity Project character trait is love, which couldn’t be more perfect for how we are feeling right now! We want to take this moment to share just how much we love and appreciate the efforts of our students, parents, and staff members to make this such a wonderful community. This past weekend, our PTA put together a fabulous new event, the Stenwood Sweethearts Dance, which showcased the love and support we show to one another. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Sincerely, Erica Riley, Principal Meredith Mitchell, Assistant Principal
Magnet School Application
Although we would be sad to lose any of our Stenwood Stingers, the Magnet school application and lottery information are available via this link, https://www.fcps.edu/registration/elementary-magnet-school-lottery.
The Magnet Program registration window will be open from March 3, 2020 through March 30, 2020. No late applications will be accepted.
Families wanting to apply for the Magnet Lottery must have a SIS account. If a student is not currently enrolled in FCPS, registration at the base school for the upcoming school year will be required.
A separate application must be completed for each sibling applying. Legacies also must apply to be eligible. Acceptances into one of the magnet programs is not transferable into another program or school.
As stated in Notice 5922, a one-time pupil placement application fee applies for students accessing special programs outside of their base school for World Language Immersion or Magnet School Programs. This $100 fee must be paid upon acceptance to the program. For more information, please visit the Magnet Lottery Fees - Frequently Asked Questions webpage.

Get Ready for the Kids Heart Challenge!
|
|
Parents, it’s time for your child to show heart!
The Kids Heart Challenge is your child’s chance to be a Heart Hero by learning about heart health, spreading the word, and raising funds to help other children.
Download the free mobile app or visit http://www2.heart.org/goto/stenwoodes to register and have your child take one of three healthy challenges. Then, ask friends and family for donations, helping your child earn thank-you gifts and PE equipment for our school!
We will be kicking off the Kids Heart Challenge at Stenwood on February 13th, and your child can get the special heart squishy (pictured left) if he or she raises $150 on the website or app by that morning.

Thank you for supporting students’ physical and emotional well-being and helping collect donations for the American Heart Association. We appreciate all your support!
Marshall Pyramid - Digital Citizenship
On March 18 from 6:15PM - 8:15 PM, Kilmer Middle School will host a Digital Citizenship night for the Marshall Pyramid community. Presentations will cover a variety of topics for all school age ranges; from cyber security, social media, how students access technology in schools, and how families can support good digital balance at home. We encourage all Stenwood families to attend, to learn how we can work together to support our students in a growing digital world. We look forward to seeing you!
