Glasgow Community Gazette - February 2

Glasgow Community:

It has been a whirlwind of a week, with the rich conversations that the staff had together on Monday around their reflection and growth from ordinary to super teams, the start of a new semester and the announcement of Shawn’s promotion to principal at Annandale High School.

I think that Shawn said it best in his letter to the staff last week, “I am proud of the many accomplishments our students and staff have achieved together. Glasgow is a school that is deeply committed to quality classroom instruction, meaningful relationships with students and rich opportunities beyond the classroom. With your support and partnership, we have achieved incredible outcomes for students and I know that the best is yet to come for Glasgow.” I too am proud of all that we have accomplished at Glasgow and am looking forward to continuing the work together and partnering with your families.

This week, we are excited for our second “Open Campus” of the year. As a reminder, this is a quarterly event that fosters a caring community and inclusively celebrates successful behavior. It works in conjunction with our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention & Support) program and provides students with the opportunity to attend an activity of their choice for an afternoon, hosted by a teacher or community member. Kids love this event and teachers and staff contribute to its success by planning and hosting fun activities.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

Getting Ready for High School

2020-2021 Course Registration for Rising 9th Graders - Glasgow Student Services is excited to meet with your 8th graders to register them for next year’s courses! Glasgow counselors are meeting with students one-on-one during their Health & Physical Education classes for academic advising and reviewing course selections. After meeting with their counselor, 8th graders will be bringing home the course selection sheet for your review.

New for this year, students are now able to enter their course selections on their own through SIS StudentVue prior to meeting with counselors. Parents will also be able to view their student’s course selections in ParentVUE when they are entered. You may help your student through this process by using the “How To” guide.

In order to make changes to course requests, parents of rising 9th graders will need to contact the student services team at Justice HS no later than March 1.
