Stenwood Hive Happenings

Hive Happenings Newsletter

Dear Stenwood Families,

Welcome to 3rd quarter!  It is so nice to have everyone back in the building.  As we start the second half of the year we want to take a minute to remind everyone that it is important to put positive routines in place.  One of the most important routines is coming to school on time, each and every day.  FCPS has an initiative #AttendanceMatters that looks at the research behind attendance and student success.  Even just one day a month adds up, so please make sure your child is coming to school and coming on time every day.  Of course, if your child is sick, please keep them home.  FCPS has a website to help you determine whether your child should stay home or come to school.

We are looking forward to a wonderful 3rd quarter.  If there is anything we can do to support your child or children, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,
Erica Riley, Principal
Meredith Mitchell, Assistant Principal

Parents, get your dancing shoes on because this one is for you too! The dance will be similar to a Father-Daughter/Mother-Son type dance. Each Stinger is asked to invite a special adult in their life to be their guest.

Make it a full afternoon - Take your Stinger Sweetheart out for lunch or dinner at Blackfinn on the day of the Dance and 10% of your bill will go to the PTA. All are invited, even if you cannot attend the Dance!

Positivity Project ~ Supporting Others

When They Struggle

This week we are working on ONE of the FIVE overarching components of the Positivity Project. Supporting others when they struggle is an important test of our character every single day.

“We rise by lifting others.”  ~Robert Ingersoll

When you put others first, you look to comfort people in the small, day-to day disappointments, whether they are friends, classmates, acquaintances, family, even rivals.

Think of a time you went through something difficult and someone encouraged you. How can you pass on that act of kindness this week?
