Blood Drive at Liberty is a Huge Success

The INOVA blood drive held at Liberty this Monday, January 27, was a huge success thanks to all of our awesome parent, faculty, staff, and community volunteer donors. Donors received a free t-shirt as a token of appreciation and were also treated to an assortment of drinks and a tempting array of snacks all provided by the Community Bible Church.  Thank you to all of our generous donors for your life saving gift.

Your Health Matters

Stress comes from internal and external events. Mindfulness helps us to focus on paying attention to how the body feels, what we think, and what emotions we experience preventing the buildup of problems that can harm the mind and body.  In order to become effective and to see positive results from using mindfulness, it takes consistent practice.  Just like anything else in life, if you practice, then you will be able to consistently use the skills when you need them (other examples…..academic skills, sports skills).

Are you practicing kind or mean thoughts when you address situations in your mind?  Are you compassionate towards yourself or do you beat yourself up for every possible wrong that you have done or may do?  Our brain is trainable.  How are you training it?  Are you cultivating inner peace to support health, wellness and inner strength?  If you don’t make changes in your inner thoughts, how might you feel in the future?  The strongest place to operate from is when you stay in the moment, as opposed to allowing your unconscious thoughts and feelings to take over based on other experiences.  When you stay in the moment, you can make better choices and take better care of yourself.

If you would like more resources in supporting your inner peace and/or mental health, please contact your school social worker, Angie Huber, for more information.
