Successful Lockdown Drill Today

Good afternoon, Forestdale families,

This morning, we completed our third lockdown drill of the year, and our students and staff did an excellent job of following the FCPS safety protocol.   Just as we do with fire and tornado drills, students and staff practice the procedures for a lockdown throughout the year.  A lockdown describes enhanced security measures taken to protect against potentially violent intruders that may be inside the building or on the school site.  All Fairfax County Public Schools participate in four lockdown drills throughout the year.

We encourage you to talk with your student about the importance of emergency drills and discuss your family’s plans for what to do in the event of an emergency outside of school.
