Principal Coffee

Have you heard of Growth Mindset?  Come learn what Growth Mindset is, how we use it in the classroom, and how you can use it with your kids at home.  Three Oak Hill teachers will present information at our next Principal Coffee on February 5th from 8:30-9:30am in the Oak Hill Library.  Parents will have the opportunity to visit classrooms to see Growth Mindset in action.

If you are interested in joining us, please RSVP here by Monday, February 3rd.  We will be capping this coffee at 25 participants in an effort to keep groups small as we are visiting classrooms.  If you have any specific questions regarding this coffee, please contact Katherine Andersen at keandersen@fcps.edu.

Oak Hill's Beat the Winter Blues School Spirit Days ends on Thursday, January 30th.  On this day everyone is asked to wear their favorite Oak Hill t-shirt.  We are asking students to show their appreciation for their teacher with a note, poem, or a picture.  Please have your son or daughter bring this to school on January 30th.

Tip of the Week

Math Tip

This year at Oak Hill we are focusing on the Portrait of a Graduate attribute- Goal Directed and Resilient.  In Math Workshop, we provide multiple opportunities for students to have productive struggle, meaning that they are able to stick with a difficult task and persevere through it.  We put the emphasis on the process rather than the answer.  Our work this year with supporting students to become goal directed and resilient aligns so well with the ideas around Growth Mindset.  Here is an article about how growth mindset and math are connected.  If you are interested in wanting more information about growth mindset, please consider attending the Principal’s Coffee February 5th at 8:30 am.

Membership Drive Month continues into 2020!

Dear all,

For the past few months, we have been asking you to consider a pledge to the Oak Hill Elementary School PTA and the idea behind it isn't just to ask for money but to ask for your support.  The OHES PTA depends on your contributions and it's how we can put on assemblies, provide classroom support and run all the family events like Movie Night and the Spring Carnival.  So if you can, please consider becoming a pledge member for a suggested $50 per family at oakhillpta.ptboard.com.  Use code: 8HSEEV.

Thank you,

OHES PTA
