POSITIVITY PROJECT

P2

Next week's Positivity Project theme of the week is "Prudence" and students will learn that you plan for the future and achieve your goals by making careful everyday choices. Prudence is the ability to do the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason. #otherpeoplematter

LANGSTON HUGES CURRICULUM NIGHT

Rising 7th grade parents and students are invited to attend our Rising 7th Grade Curriculum Night and Electives Fair on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 6:30pm in the Hughes gym. Students and parents will be able to hear about student life at Langston Hughes. Parents and students will hear details about course information, including information about our International Baccalaureate program, advanced academics, and other programs. Students will also be able to tour the electives classrooms.

DISMISSAL CHANGES

Please remember to let the front office know if you need to change the “go home” plans for your student.  This should be done no later than 3 pm on the day of any change.  Please do not email or call the teachers to advise, but instead notify the front office on:  703 326-3500 with any and all changes.

Any student going home with, or taking another student home, will need a note from both students parents in order to go home together.  If you have a change in the normal routine, i.e., they attend daycare but you want them to take the bus, please advise the front office by 3 pm on that day.

LAKE ANNE LUNCH SQUAD

We are looking for parents to join the Lake Anne Lunch Squad. This is an opportunity to support Ms. Anne during all lunch periods.  A sign-up genius will be sent out with various options to come in during lunch.  Please consider supporting our students and staff during lunch.

SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST

Did you know that there is a School Psychologist assigned to EVERY school in FCPS? FCPS School Psychologists are working hard to make a positive impact on the academic and social-emotional development of all FCPS students through the provision of mental health services that build resiliency, life competencies and good citizenship.  Please follow them on Twitter @FCPSpsychs to find out more about how they impact students’ lives every day!

LOST AND FOUND

Please have your student(s) check the Lost & Found for missing items.  Our bins are overflowing with coats; hats; lunch boxes; etc.  We also encourage you to write your student(s) name(s) on the items in marker so we can match them up when found.

INCLEMENT WEATHER DECISIONS

As winter approaches and bad weather or other emergency situations occur, it may be necessary for FCPS to cancel, delay, or close schools early. Parents and students should have a well-communicated plan in place in the event of these emergency situations. Children need to know where to go or what to do if a parent will not be home.  Please see the FCPS Weather Cancellation Procedures page for more information about weather decisions.
