From the Principal's Desk
Happy First Friday of School of 2020,
We were so excited to welcome our students back after the two busy weeks of Winter Break. Our Eagles returned ready to learn. Our 8th graders were excited to learn about opportunities at Fairfax High School when their counselors came to meet them during Learning Seminar. Soon, our 7th graders will hear about options for next year and the types of electives and foreign languages we may be able to offer.
In county news, we are excited to learn that the School Board has approved the installation of internal and external cameras at the middle school level. I will be sending a very detailed message about this soon with ways for you to provide input, offer support and ask for clarifications. This is an exciting development to promote school safety.
In the next steps of our partnership with George Mason's Wrestling Program, they are inviting us to support them at a Lanier Day Event this Saturday. See below for more information on how to support the Green and Gold.
Thank you for your support with our emergency weather closings this past week. We appreciate that you have given your students plans for what to do in these situations. The safety of our students during the day and leaving in these situations is a top priority. Enjoy your weekend--it is supposed to be a warm one!

Announcements
The George Mason University wrestling team invites Lanier MS, the City and School Board to attend their first ever dual (vs Brown) at EagleBank Arena this Saturday, January 11, at 5:00PM! It's completely free with open seating; concession stands will be open as well.
Laptop/Charger Inventory
On Monday, January 13th, TA teachers will be completing another Laptop/Charger Check. With state testing coming up in the spring, it is imperative that all students have a working laptop and charger to take the tests. Your student needs to bring their laptop and charger. If they have lost their laptop or charger, a replacement form and fee will be given to them.
