Camelot Office-Winter Break.  The office will be closed during most of winter break.  If you have a need to contact us, please call us and leave a message on 703-645-7000. If Lotta is not available at the time, and she will get back to you.

When we return from break, we focus on the Positivity Project (P2) character strength of HOPE/OPTIMISM.  Hope/Optimism is described by P2 as follows:  You expect the best from the future and work to achieve it. Test Scores in Thursday Folders. We want to alert 1st and 2nd grade parents/guardians that Naglieri (1st) and Cognitive Abilities (2nd) score reports were sent home in Thursday folders yesterday. Score reports were also sent with certain 3rd-6th graders whose parents/guardians were notified that their students would be tested.

Advanced Academic Program (AAP) Level IV Referral Deadline is January 9. In early December, we held a meeting for parents/guardians on the topic of referrals for Level IV AAP service for rising 3rd-8th grade students. The presentation is available on the FCPS AAP website: https://www.fcps.edu/academics/academic-overview/advanced-academic-programs. See the Parent Presentation and the Forms tabs. Parent/guardian referrals must be turned into Karen Mitchell, Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, at Camelot by/on January 9.

Dragons Share. Many thanks to the families who sign up!  If you would like to help deliver unopened food items, fruit, and milk from our school cafeteria to Food For Others at 2938 Prosperity Drive on Wednesdays/Fridays, please sign up! You may collect items from the refrigerator (anytime) on your assigned day. Food for Others is open from 9:30am-5pm, Monday through Friday. Happy Holiday wishes to all our Camelot families! May your season be joyful!

Donuts with Grownups Save the Date!   Right after winter break, Friday January 10, please join your 3rd through 6th graders for a donut in the cafeteria at 8:30am! For students without a grownup, donuts will be available in the pods. (K-2 students will go to the gym during donuts time). Thank you to our sponsor Arshia Kia!

Winter Enrichment Classes Registration!  We are excited to announce a great lineup of classes for our Winter fee based enrichment programs. Classes begin in late January and will run through March.  Class options include Coding, Robotics, Chess, Art Explorations (AM & PM) and a GROW leadership program for Girls!! Please see the PTA website for more Registration Details, which will be posted soon!

Fun Run Top Earners. Thanks to all of you who donated, ran, helped your kids gather pledges, we exceeded our goal and raised over $22,000 for Camelot PTA programs and events!   A very special congrats to our grade winners for being the top earner in their grade:  Kinder: Aidan B, First: Alexa H, Second: Charlotte S, Third: Jayden C, Fourth: Tooley A, Fifth: Ali L, Sixth: Avery C

These students win a $50 gift card to Zappos for new running shoes! The third grade and Ms. Troup’s second grade class will enjoyed a popcorn party yesterday, and Mr. Salerno was duct taped to the wall this morning! The scooter race and Sliming the PE teachers will take place in Jan when we have a dry day. 

PTA Executive Board Member Nominations. This April, we will elect a new PTA executive board. Open positions include President, VP Social, VP Ways and Means and Secretary. Job descriptions are here. If interested in learning more about the positions, contact camelot.elementary.pta@gmail.com. Serving on the PTA executive board is a great way to get involved with the school. 

Join Us for the Next PTA Meeting on Wednesday January 22 at 7:00pm. Special guest speaker Ann Dolin, M.Ed., will talk about Elementary Excellence: Simple Steps to Help Your Child Become an Independent Learner. Ann is the founder of Education Connections where she and her team (of 180+ tutors) have helped thousands of children and families reduce stress, improve their relationships and reach their full academic potential. 

Camelot Cheer is Back!  Our Camelot Cheer program is open to everyone grades 1-6. The program starts January 8th and will be Wednesday’s 3:55-5:30 pm. More information on the cheer program is included on a flyer in your student’s Thursday folder today.
