Introducing Coding at Timber Lane ES

To celebrate Hour of Code week, third graders learned how to code using a Frozen themed activity on code.org.  Students solved puzzles and then moved to the next.  Each puzzle required more advanced coding.  It was great to see students struggle, persevere,  show resilience, and ultimately succeed.  Struggle is an essential part of learning.  Here’s a picture of third graders engaged in coding.

Digital Citizenship REMINDERS

Timber Lane parents and students, as we introduce continue our use of technology at Timber Lane Elementary, it is important to remember to: 1) Keep Your Passwords Private; 2) Share with Care – Think Before You Click!; and 3) Shutdown your computer properly by clicking the power icon and SHUTDOWN on your computer.  Wait until all of the lights on your computer are off – then, plug your computer in so that it is charged and ready to go the next time you need it!  Keep your computer healthy!

P2 Weekly Character Strength

(Calendar) (Character Cards)

This week we are learning about the character trait Self-Control.  Self-Control: you have the ability to control your emotions and behaviors.  You think before you act.

#OtherPeopleMatter is our motto, hashtag, and the spirit of the movement we are building. Stay tuned for more information about the Positivity Project! Students will be learning about 24 character strengths and discussing Perspective.

Check out this video on the meaning behind #OtherPeopleMatter!

Parents Appreciating Wonderful Staff (PAWS)

Have you had a wonderful experience with a Timber Lane Staff member that you would like to share with Mr. Chiet & Mrs. O'Donovan?  The Timber Lane Website now has a form you can complete to quickly praise that staff member!  The PAWS link can be found on the Timber Lane Elementary School website homepage (please see image below).  Once you share a little bit about your experience, a template will be generated and emailed to Mr. Chiet.  Once received we will then print and celebrate with that staff member!  https://timberlanees.fcps.edu/
