2019-20 Advanced Academic Programs Level IV Center Screening and Identification
Parents Grades 2-6 If you are interested in referring your child for the Level IV Center, the countywide referral deadline is January 9, 2020. Please turn in the referral form and any optional information in an envelope to the GBE front office by this deadline. You can visit the AAP website for all timelines, forms and resources for this process.

Come listen to GBE Strings performances, and hear best-selling children’s author, Sue Fleiss, read from her books (including her most recently published, Little Red Rhyming Hood, and How to Trick a Christmas Elf) —and grab one or two to have signed! Gift wrapping, face painting, bookmark making… You and your students will have a great time for sure!
Make sure you mention GBE at the registers—even grabbing treats from the café will count!

Coding Enrichment Programs!
Did you know that incorporating coding helps students gain skills such as sequencing, problem solving, math concepts, as well as perseverance so that they will become better readers, writers, and mathematicians?
Our winter programs are being announced, and coding is open for registration!
STEM excel is offering these three courses this semester:
-3D Printing, starts Wednesday, January 22nd -Python Programming, starts Thursday, January 23rd -Intro to Game Design, starts Friday, January 24th

Power Plates
Virginia PTA Power Plates Program is designed to encourage students to practice healthy eating habits by submitting their recipes for competition. The competition is open to students from grades pre-kindergarten through 12. The program is administered by the Virginia PTA Health and Safety Committee.
There are five meal categories: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Dessert, and Snack.
Students can enter their original, healthy recipes in three easy steps: write down the recipe, fill out the Student Entry Form, and take a picture of the dish - then submit!
Entries are reviewed by judges appointed by the Health and Safety Committee. 1st Place winners are invited to the Virginia PTA student awards ceremony the weekend of the spring Board of Managers meeting.
