Wow, it is hard to believe winter break is just around the corner. We would like to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and a relaxing winter break. We would also like to thank our hardworking teachers and staff as well as our PTA and school volunteers - your commitment to our students and our school is so appreciated.
Over the course of the next week, please feel free to come by and check out our lost and found. All items not picked up by December 20th, will be donated. Teachers will be putting coats and other belongings out in the pods all of next week for students to look through and pick up prior to break.
We look forward to seeing all of our students and families in the New Year.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2020.
Baby Shark (a.k.a. assistant principal Katie Pluntke) got everyone singing at the Fort Hunt ES winter concert.

Dear FCPS Families,
The winter months are upon us and that can often bring challenging weather conditions. We want to remind parents, students, and staff members that FCPS monitors weather conditions daily in case school must be cancelled, delayed, or closed early due to weather. Parents and students should have a well communicated family plan in place in the event of emergency weather situations.
The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority whenever a decision is made regarding school closures and delays. FCPS reviews information from emergency management and state highway officials about road conditions, and school personnel inspect the conditions of roads, sidewalks, FCPS parking lots, and bus lanes. This information contributes to the final decision about a delay or closing.
Due to the speed of updating, the official @FCPSnews Twitter account is generally the first and fastest mode of communication. Other communication channels will be updated as quickly as possible including email, text, website, other social media, and local news stations.
FCPS tries to make decisions in the evening, realizing that parents need time to make proper arrangements. But when there is a great deal of uncertainty, we wait to receive the latest morning forecast. In that case, the superintendent decides whether to delay or close schools by approximately 4:30 a.m.
More information about weather cancellation procedures is available online.
Thank you for your support and cooperation.
