Family Science Night was a HUGE hit! Thank you to our Science Committee, our volunteers, and the many students and families who came to participate in the fun.
Literacy Night Workshop - Thursday, December 5th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm
We will be having a Literacy Night Workshop at Crestwood. Come join in the celebration of reading and writing. There will be activities and games where parents can participate with their children to support their enjoyment and development of literacy skills. We’ll be playing word games, writing and listening to stories, reading poetry, reinforcing comprehension strategies, and exploring literacy websites.
Level IV Advanced Academics Services Referral Deadline
Parents or guardians of students not in the second grade screening pool may initiate the full-time AAP IV screening process by completing and submitting an Advanced Academic Programs Level IV Referral Form to the local school AART, Jessica Brenneman no later than January 9th, 2020. You may submit the referral via email (jhbrenneman@fcps.edu) or you may send it in with your child. No late referrals will be accepted. Second grade students not in the pool and all students in grades 3-7 are screened only by referral. Forms are available on the AAP website. To access the forms, go to fcps.edu and search for “AAP forms.”
Advanced Academic Programs Level IV Referral Form and the Parent Information Packet available at the local school. Parents or guardians of students who are in the second grade pool will be notified by the school. Students who are not in the second grade pool will not receive notification. The benchmark score used to create the second grade pool will be published on the AAP website mid-January.
Please do not wait for test scores before submitting a referral for your student in grades 2-7 as there will be no referrals for Level IV screening accepted past the deadline of January 9th, 2020. If you are waiting for test scores and would like you student screen for Level IV please submit the referral by the published deadline (even if you have not received the test scores for your student).
New Playground Coming Soon!
We are excited to share that on Thursday, December 5th the installation of our new playground and improving drainage will begin! This work should take approximately 4 weeks to complete. For safe use of this area after school please do not use the playground. The basketball hoop near the school and the fields will be available.
Crestwood Spirit Week!
December 6 – Show your Spirit by wearing your favorite team jersey or Crestwood Spirit Wear!
December 10 – “Work Out” your winter plan by wearing workout gear!
December 13 – Celebrate “Seussical Season” Wear Green to show Empathy toward the Grinch (from Dr. Seuss) during this time of year.
December 16 – TWIN Day – Dress up with a friend or a classmate (or a teacher) as a twin.
December 17 – Wacky Tacky Tuesday – Wear an ugly sweater or mismatched, tacky clothes (like wearing stripes and dots, or patterns/colors that do not go together).
December 18 – Warm Winter Wednesday – Wear a favorite warm scarf or seasonal, warm, fuzzy socks.
December 19 – Pajama Day!!! Wear School appropriate pajamas to school.
December 20 – Winter Head Gear Day – Wear winter holiday head gear (antlers, bulbs, snowflakes, etc…)

La Noche Familiar de Ciencia fue un gran éxito! Gracias a nuestro Comité de Ciencias, a nuestros voluntarios y a todos los estudiantes y sus familias que vinieron a participar en la diversión.
Noche de Alfabetización- El jueves 5 de diciembre desde las 6:00 hasta las 7:30 pm
Tendremos un taller de Noche de Alfabetización en Crestwood. Ven y únete a la celebración de la lectura y escritura. Habrá actividades y juegos donde los padres pueden participar con sus hijos para apoyar y disfrutar su desarrollo y habilidades en la escritura y lectura. Jugaremos juegos de palabras, escribiremos y escucharemos historias, leeremos poesía, reforzaremos estrategias para una mejor comprensión y exploraremos sitios web buenos para la lectura y escritura.
Fecha Límite de Referencia de Servicios Académicos Avanzados de Nivel IV
Los padres o guardianes de los estudiantes que no están en el grupo de evaluación de segundo grado pueden iniciar el proceso de evaluación de AAP de tiempo completo, llenando y presentando el Formulario de Referencia de Nivel IV del Programa Académico Avanzado a la escuela local AART, Jessica Brenneman a más tardar el jueves 9 de enero del 2020. Usted también puede enviar la referencia por correo electrónico (jhbrenneman@fcps.edu) o puede enviarla con su hijo/a. No se aceptará ningún formulario después del jueves 9 de enero del 2020. Los estudiantes de segundo grado que no están en el grupo y todos los estudiantes en los grados de tercero a séptimo grado son evaluados solo por el formulario de Referencia. Estos formularios están disponibles en el sitio web AAP. Para acceder a los formularios vaya a fcps.edu y busque “AAP forms.”
El Formulario de Referencia y paquete de información para padres del Programas Académicos Avanzados estarán disponibles es la escuela local. La escuela notificara a los padres de los estudiantes de segundo grado que están en el grupo de evaluación. Los estudiantes que no son parte de este grupo de evaluación no recibirán notificación. El puntaje de referencia utilizado para crear el grupo de segundo grado se publicara en el sitio web AAP a mediados de enero.
Por favor no espere a que salgan los puntajes para mandar el Formulario del estudiante en los grados 2-7 ya que no se aceptara formularios de referencia para el examen de Nivel IV después de la fecha límite el 9 de enero del 2020. Si está esperando los puntajes de los exámenes y le gustaría que su hijo/a fuera parte del examen para el Nivel IV por favor envié el formulario antes del 9 de enero (aunque todavía no tenga los puntajes de las pruebas del estudiante).
Próximamente tendremos un nuevo parque para jugar “Playground”!
Estamos muy contentos con esta noticia y queremos compartirla con todos ustedes. El jueves 5 de diciembre comenzará la instalación de nuestro nuevo patio de juegos y se mejorará el drenaje. Este trabajo tomara aproximadamente 4 semanas en completarse. Por favor no use esta área después de las horas de escuela. La cancha de básquetbol y los campos estarán disponibles para jugar.

17 de diciembre – Martes Wacky Tacky – Usa un sweater feo o ropa que no pegue (como usar rayas con puntos o patrones/colores).
18 de diciembre – Miércoles frio de invierno – Usa tu favorita bufanda o calcetines de invierno..
19 de diciembre – Día para usar pijamas!!! Usa un pijama apropiada para usar en la escuela.
20 de diciembre – Día de gorro para frio – Usa un gorro para el frio (antlers, bulbs, snowflakes, etc…)

El concierto de coro y campanas será: el miércoles 11 de diciembre a las 2:30pm y el jueves 12 de diciembre a las 2:30pm en la cafetería de Crestwood.
