Winter Break

December 23 - January 3

Hive Happenings Newsletter

Dear Stenwood Families,

We are looking forward to seeing many of you at Silver Diner Dine Out tomorrow night!  We know so many students love going to this annual event!

We ask that you help showcase our amazing school and remind your children that there may be other diners who are not part of our Stenwood community who are enjoying a night out as well, so remember to be respectful.

Attendance Matters - We need your help!  Regular attendance at school is important.  Did you know that research shows that missing just 2 days of school a month on average is a primary cause of lower academic achievement?  Missing more than 18 days, which is only 2 days a month, adds up to missing more than 10% of the school year and is considered chronic absenteeism.   If you would like more information on the impacts of chronic absenteeism and support for avoiding it, please visit the FCPS Website.

Sincerely,
Erica Riley, Principal
Meredith Mitchell, Assistant Principal

Positivity Project: Humility

Next week we are focusing on Humility. You do not seek the spotlight. You let your actions speak for themselves.
“Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it’s thinking of yourself less.”
                                                                  ~Rick Warren

Questions you might enjoy talking about:
• How is being honest with yourself related to humility?
• Would you be a good teacher of humility?
• Why is humility important to lead others and to make a positive impact?
