Turkey Trot

The 10th Annual Turkey Trot Fun Run will be on Tuesday, November 26th.  This event is a 1.25 mile race around the school.  The top male and female finishers in each grade will receive a prize.  Admission cost for the race is 1 canned good that will be donated to families in need.  Students will sign up through their PE teacher. The last day to sign up is Nov. 25th.

After-School Program

Our 8th Grade vs Staff Flag Football Game will be held on Monday, November 25th during the 2nd block of the After-School Program! 1st block will run the same as usual with all of the normal activity offerings. For 2nd block, students will have the choice of watching the 8th Grade vs Staff Flag Football Game or attending Soccer, Gaming, or Computer Lounge.

The After-School Program and National Junior Honor Society will be hosting a Winter Dance during the 2nd block of the ASP on Thursday, December 12th!  Tickets will be sold for $5.00 before school and in lunches on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday the week of the dance. 

Yousef Khararbeh is this week's ASP Student of the Week!  Yousef has been working with our special education students during Special Olympics each Thursday and has shown leadership and patience in teaching the students how to play basketball.  He has requested to work with students who require more coaching and teaching than others, never gets frustrated, and instead motivates and cheers on the students.  Great job, Yousef!

PTSA Meeting

Our next PTSA (Parent, Teacher, and Student Association) meeting will be on Thursday, December 5th at 6:00pm! Transportation, dinner, and childcare will be provided. In addition, students who participate in the After-School Program that afternoon can stay at Poe from the 4:45pm after-school dismissal until the meeting if their families will be attending. 

A school bus will be passing through several of our communities to pick up and drop off families.  The bus route will be as follows:

 

Stop 1) Eastmoreland Rd & Whitney St (Parliaments) - Departs at 5:30pm

Stop 2) McWhorter Pl & Carmelo Dr (Wedgewood)

Stop 3) Patriot Dr & Nathan Hale Dr (Vistas)

Stop 4) Braddock Elementary School

Stop 5) Poe Middle School - Arrives at 5:50pm

Book Fair

Poe Middle School is having a Book Fair from December 9th-19th! The Book Fair is a great opportunity to give the gift of books for the holidays! This year, parents can take advantage of the e-wallet option to shop at the Book Fair. The e-wallet is a free digital payment option for students. Check out the e-wallet commercial for parents. Also, we are in need of volunteers for the Book Fair. PTSA Winter Holiday Dinner & Crafts

The Poe PTSA invites all students and families to join us for our Winter Holiday Dinner and Crafts on Friday, December 13th at 6:00pm! We hope to see you there!

Raven’s Nest

As the days get colder, don’t forget that The Raven’s Nest is stocked with coats and warm clothes for students and family members. Please visit on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 12:15 to 3:15.
