Thanksgiving Message

Thanksgiving Message

Dear Parents,

I write to you today to wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving break! Mr. Credle and I wish you safe travels, stress free driving, moist turkeys and plenty of warm memories with those you cherish the most.

If you didn’t know, I was raised on a dairy farm in Western Pennsylvania. Many years ago, a tornado leveled an empty barn just feet from the house I grew up in. The Amish rebuilt the barn and for the last eleven years, my parents have welcomed friends and extended family to have a Thanksgiving meal in the new barn. Under the warmth of twinkle lights and gas heaters we come together to stop and look around the tables built from the rubbles of the fallen barn to remember our roots and be thankful of what is right in front of us. This year, while in Pennsylvania I also look forward to taking my son to the Christmas Tree Farm where for 31 years my family enjoyed finding that perfect tree to “saw” down and decorate. While we won’t be trudging through inches of snow this early in the season, it will be extra special to have my dad ride along with us to that same tree farm. This will be a memory savored for years to come.

Regardless of whether you celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, I hope you have a warm place to be where the company that surrounds you is all you need to have a full heart. I am thankful for such caring families at Oak Hill, caring students and a staff who tirelessly cares for our kids. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Holly DeVore, Principal
