Inclusive Schools Week is December 2nd-December 6th

Fairfax County Public Schools will be celebrating Inclusive Schools Week during the week of December 2-6, 2018. This year’s theme is “Charting the Course for Inclusive Schools.” The 2019 theme for Inclusive Schools Week provides FCPS schools with the opportunity to think about our current philosophies and practices regarding inclusion and to plan for “next steps” in the process.

Fairhill will be honoring Inclusive Schools Week by having different activities and conversations by classroom. We will culminate the week with a spirit day in honor of Inclusive Schools Week. As a way to show we are all Tigers, we will wear Tie Die or any bright colors on Friday, December 6th.

Book Fair Volunteers Needed

The Fairhill Library Book Fair will be held December 2nd - December 6th.  The library is looking for a few parent volunteers for the mornings of December 2nd and 3rd to assist the kindergarten and first grade classes as they create their book fair wish lists.  Creating these wish lists in advance of the book fair will help the event run smoothly.  Please see the sign up genius to volunteer.  Thank you for your help!

Falls Church Pyramid Parent Information Event

Healthy Choices: Information Session on Vaping/Drug Use in High Schools

On December 10th from 6:30 – 7:30pm, Falls Church High School will be hosting an event open to all parents from Falls Church, Luther Jackson, and our feeder elementary schools.  This session has five goals:

  • inform parents of the latest drug use information by high school students (including JUULing/ vape devices)
  • communicate the dangers of the various drugs
  • learn how to identify the latest drug paraphernalia out there and signs of use
  • drug use and the SR&R
  • tips for communication with their children about drug use

The presentation portion of the event will take no more than the first 40 minutes and will be delivered by a panel of school staff, substance abuse prevention specialist, and a Fairfax County police officer.  The rest of the time will be open for Q&A as well as an opportunity for parents to come up and see actual samples of drug paraphernalia (including the latest vaping devices).

This is a free event.  We will start at 6:30 pm in the Falls Church High School cafeteria.

Spanish & Vietnamese interpreters will be available.

Questions: call Cait Saxton, 703-207-4049
