Please note: Progress reports and communication used within the FCPS are  available online by using:

StudentVUE:  Every student is able to access all of their current grades by seeing the teacher's grade book through Student VUE on their school-provided laptop.

ParentVUE:  You also have the same access.  This is a great way to find out what your child scored on a recent assessment or if they turned in the project you watched them work on.  Here is the link to set up your account.

REQUEST a Weekly Progress Report via Email from FCPS:  If you have registered for SIS ParentVUE and have a primary email address recorded in ParentVUE, you can receive your student’s Weekly Progress Report via email. This report provides a summary of your student’s grades for the current quarter. To activate the Weekly Progress Reports via email, login to your SIS ParentVUE account and verify that you have a primary email address within the system. It is listed under the “My Account” tab. If it is blank, enter the email address where you would like to receive the progress reports, and click on “Update account.” Once your email is confirmed, return to the “My Account” tab to activate and select your preferences for receiving these reports. Emails will be sent according to your selected preferences. Weekly Progress Reports for all of your middle and high school students will be included in one email. For additional help, refer to the quick reference guide for FCPS parents/guardians.

Google Classroom:  Many teachers use Google Classroom for tasks and assignments.  Your ParentVUE account does not give you access to Google Classroom.  However, your child can show you their Google Classroom accounts.

After School Homework Support:  You can find a list of when each teacher stays after school to support students on our Lanier website.

Communication:  The best way to get more information about a class or grade, is to reach out to the classroom teacher.  You can find teacher emails on our Lanier website.

LMS PTA

PTA Meeting - Thursday, November 21st, 7pm

Please plan to join us on Thursday, November 21st at 7pm in the library for our next PTA meeting. After a short business meeting, we will hear a presentation from a FCPS Parent Resource Center representative about the programs and resources their office has to offer all FCPS families. Light refreshments will be provided.

Join the PTA

Have you joined the PTA for the 2019-2020 school year? Just by joining you help provide resources for academic and student programs at Lanier. Although we welcome all parent participation, volunteering and attendance at meetings is not required. Go to https://laniermiddleschool.memberhub.store and select "memberships".

No Fuss Fundraiser

Participate in our No Fuss Fundraiser! We know our families have busy schedules, which is why we won’t ask your student to sell anything to raise money for our school through the PTA. Instead, we are asking each family to consider making a $20 donation on top of their membership dues. 100% of your donation is TAX DEDUCTIBLE and 100% of your contribution goes to support the Lanier Community. **Please note, any amount big or small is welcome and appreciated ($20 is not the required amount)** While on the website joining the PTA, just click "donations" on the left side of your screen.

Reminders

Laptop Health Check/Inventory

All students need to bring their laptop and charger to Teacher Advisory Class on Monday, November 25th.  Teachers will be doing an inventory of laptops and chargers while students make sure their laptops have received all updates so far.  If a student’s laptop is being repaired, they should still bring their charger to school.

E-cigarette use among teens is on the rise and can have many negative health implications. Vaping products contain metals, chemicals, and other substances that not only lead to addiction, but may cause lung-related injury. Teens are more likely to become addicted to e-cigarettes, because brain pathways in teen brains develop faster than adults. Most e-cigarettes contain nicotine, which is highly addictive and can harm brain development – which continues until about age 25.

It is important that you talk to and educate your teen about the dangers of e-cigarette use. There are many resources available that help support vaping cessation and promote healthy decision-making.
