Report Cards available Saturday, 11/9 at 6am in SIS Parent/StudentVue

On November 4th and 5th, teachers will be working on grading and planning for the upcoming quarter. Students and parents will not be able to access SIS Parent/StudentVue to check grades from Friday, November 1 at 4pm until report cards become available on Saturday, November 9 at 6am.  Report cards will no longer be distributed for quarters 1-3.  A final report card will be sent home at the end of the year.  Students and Parents have the option of printing a PDF version of the report card directly from SIS Parent/StudentVue when they become available.

Did You Know…The 2018-2019 FCPS Youth Survey results are in, here are the vaping results-Vaping is Common, but Regular Cigarette Smoking is Decreasing: One in five students (19.8%) reported vaping within a 30-day period, while only 1.8% reported smoking cigarettes. One-quarter of 12th graders vaped nicotine, one-seventh vaped marijuana, and approximately one-eighth vaped flavoring only.

The concern is that students think they are vaping “just” flavoring. Just because the label say’s no nicotine doesn’t make it true.

Langley’s substance abuse prevention specialist, Kelly Rankin will be presenting this and other youth survey outcomes at the PTSA General Membership Meeting on November 13th.

Wellness Screening- December 3-4, 2019     (9th Grade Parents Only)

Mental health problems can develop in adolescence which is full of emotions for teens. Some of these emotions are actually mental illnesses. Depression is among the most common mental illnesses. Depression is treatable; however, it is a leading risk factor for suicide. To proactively address mental illness, Langley High School is providing a mental wellness screening and suicide prevention training as part of the SOS Signs of Suicide Prevention Program.  9th grade parents will receive an email on November 4th with details regarding this screening and an opt-out form should they wish to do so.  Please contact Tim Ready, school counselor, at tjready@fcps.edu with any questions.

WEEKLY PROGRESS REPORTS

All parents/guardians of Middle School and High School students who have registered for a SIS ParentVUE Account and have a primary email address recorded in SIS ParentVUE can receive Weekly Progress Reports via email. This report provides a summary of your student(s) grades for the current quarter. To activate the Weekly Progress Reports via email, login to your SIS ParentVUE Account and first verify that you have a primary email address within the system. It is listed under the “My Account” tab. If it is blank, enter the email address where you would like to receive the progress reports and click on update account. Once confirmed, parents/guardians are able to activate and select their preferences for receiving these reports within the SIS ParentVUE “My Account” tab.

Weekly progress reports for all of your Middle and High School students will be included in one email. FCPS Elementary Schools do not use the SIS grade book and therefore are not included in these reports.

For questions about a specific progress report or grade you can login into your SIS ParentVUE Account to find detailed grade book information. Additionally, your student’s teacher is always the best resource to answer any grade book questions that you may have. Weekly Progress Report Parent Quick Reference Guide
