All Night Graduation Party Volunteers Needed
The most fun night of the year is in need of some key volunteers.  The All Night Grad Party takes place graduation night from 11pm – 5am, traditionally at Audrey Moore Rec Center (Wakefield Park), this year June 9-10, 2019.  It is an alcohol-free and drug-free event designed to keep celebrating graduates off the road and in a safe, secure place on one of the highest risk nights for teenage deaths.

We need your help filling the following positions:

  • Activities/Games: Co-Chair plans for games and works on contracts with vendors for the casino, carnival-type games, artists, masseuses, etc.
  • StoreCo-Chair shops through school year & store the donated/purchased items and prizes for future ANGP Store.  Helps set up the ANGP Store; During Party Volunteers tend to graduates seeking items from the store.
  • Set-Up Chair:  Junior and underclassmen parents  (senior parents may help this year due to early graduation ceremony)  DAY OF graduation, Chair coordinates actual set-up of the party at Audrey Moore Rec Center; works with Rec Center staff.  Communicates to Transportation crew & Clean Up Chair what things go where following party.

Gift Cards for Teacher Appreciation
We're always trying to show our dedicated faculty how much we appreciate and value them. You can help show your support of these hard-working teachers with a donation of gift cards. Please drop off gift card donations to the Main Office and we'll make sure to deliver them to our teachers at various events throughout the school year. Gift cards from any business and in any amount will be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for your consideration and generosity.

Support Our Student Musicians and Meet the Principal
Enjoy performances by our own LBSS Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra on Monday, December 9th. Help support their participation in the prestigious Music for All Festival. See below flyer for more information.

Prior to the concert, the PTSA will host a "Meet and Greet with the Principal". We understand that not everyone can take time out of the workday to attend the PTSA Principal's Coffee during the day, so we've scheduled for this evening event. Come by and say "hi" to Dr. Smith outside the Little Theatre Lobby before the concert.

Bruins Performed at VBODA Northern Regional Orchestra
This past Saturday on 11/9, five of our Lake Braddock student musicians participated in the VBODA Northern Regional Orchestra. There was an extremely competitive audition process that involved 562 students from around the region but only approximately 120 students were selected. The orchestra was conducted by Maestro Daniel Myssyk, who is the orchestra conductor at Virginia Commonwealth University and who also has an extensive background in professional conducting. All of these students are eligible to audition for All State Orchestra in February, which will be hosted in Richmond later in April. Bravo to these talented Bruins!

Honor Flight
Last week, the Golden Knights took almost 200 7th graders to the WWII Memorial to meet up with the Honor Flight. Students made posters and wrote over 300 letters to give to the Honor Flight from Kansas. Among the 26 veterans from the Korean and Vietnam War on this flight, the students were able to meet a WWII veteran who was visiting his memorial with his family. Thank you to the Lake Braddock faculty, staff and parent who were able to accompany the students on this amazing experience.
