What is happening in STEAM?

Kindergarten

During this month, our kindergarteners have been exploring their senses of sight, smell and taste. The children have been great communicators when commenting what smells and flavors they like the most!

1st Grade

First grade students have made a fantastic imaginary trip to some of the different types of habitats: the desert, the ocean and other aquatic bodies, the jungle, the grasslands and the Antarctic !! They got to work on recreating a desert with paper and now they are designing a den for a polar bear using marshmallows.

2nd Grade:

Our second graders are exploring the benefits of the Minecraft program, by virtually creating their buildings.  With this program, their creativity has no limits!

Grade 3:

Our third graders explored the distance that each of three types of cars run. They were ready to do the test and were able to compare the results by using the Experimental Design Diagram!

4th, 5th, and 6th Grade

Our fourth, fifth and sixth grade students have been practicing the use of the experimental design diagram. Throughout this period, they have performed different types of experiments in which they have been able to make their own hypotheses, identify the dependent and independent variables, design a table of results, and draw their final conclusions!

Global Classroom

Second grade is in connection with Colegio Americano de Barranquilla, Colombia !!! With the desire to create global citizens, we want our children to have the experience of sharing and knowing about other cultures of the world while learning academic concepts !! Every week, each student exchanges information that have learned at STEAM. On this occasion, the two cultures are learning the effect that climate and terrain had in the lives of Indians in the past. Our little dragons are exploring the way that Indians dressed and as designers they have imagined, planned and are now in the process of creating their own clothes !!!
