Happy Fall Friday, Families!

The leaves are changing and the cool air has returned to Virginia. We hope you are finding time during your busy weekends to get out and explore all our wonderful area has to offer with hikes, LMS music concerts, and fall festivals. This short week has been a great time at Lanier with our Career Day on Wednesday and a dance on Friday.

Speaking of Career Day, it was amazing! We had nearly 80 presenters talking about over 50 kinds of careers. Ask your child about the three career fields they explored. Our staff and community helped recruit some amazing speakers. For example, as Mrs. Teague (our Director of Student Services) exited an American Airlines flight and saw the pilot saying thank you for flying, she took the opportunity to invite her to Lanier, and she came! Did you know that only 4% of pilots are females? What a great honor to have her as a presenter—on her own time! We also had many partners for our Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce, City of Fairfax Fire and Police, local business owners, cyber security folks, professionals from NASA, NOAA, the CIA, the FBI, GMU, Shenandoah University, US Air Force, VDOT, and The Washington Post just to name a few. We would love to acknowledge all of the speakers. Please see the complete list on our website.

Report cards were distributed today. We will also send an email on Monday letting you know how to ensure you are getting weekly progress reports about your child’s academic progress. At this time, the ParentVue may still be locked while grades are being finalized.

In closing, have you heard about the wonderful feat that our physical education teacher, Pam Clingenpeel recently completed? Please go to to see about her recent journey to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. We are so proud of her accomplishment!!

See you around Lanier,

Tammy Hanna
