Fall Field Day is one of the most popular events at HES and the weather certainly cooperated! Thank you to our PE teachers, Eric Johnson and Kristin Pualoa, our volunteers, staff, and students for making it a fabulous day for all!
Calendar Reminder: November 4 and 5 Are Holidays for Students
As a reminder, schools will be closed for students this Monday, November 4, for a school planning day and Tuesday, November 5, for a teacher work day. Today, Friday, November 1, is the last day of the first quarter. Classes will resume on Wednesday, November 6. See the complete 2019-20 school calendar.
Daylight Savings Time Ends Sunday
Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour on Sunday, November 3, at 2 a.m., for the end of Daylight Saving Time.
 Second grade students develop as communicators as they practiced asking questions and listened to the answer in order to help them make informed decisions. Students stepped inside the mind of a sailor and asked Christopher Columbus (counselor Brian Falkey) questions to assess whether or not they wanted to join him on a voyage.
PTA News...
October has been so full of fun, from our Walk/Bike to School Day to today's Field Day! We hope everyone was able to come out to our events like Spirit Night at Chuck E Cheese, the Herndon Homecoming Parade, and Spooky Bingo. We can't say Thank You enough to our volunteers who made these events possible. It's wonderful to serve alongside parents and teachers who care so much about our kids. Don't forget to give to our Bee the Hive Fundraiser before Friday so the PTA can continue to be a force for fun!

We will be publishing our 2019-20 School Directory online soon. All parents are encouraged to verify and edit their own directory listings. To ensure we have the most up-to-date information for your family, please follow the instructions in our emails on 10/10 or 10/17 that contain your specific username and verify your data. Box Tops Deadline This Week
Our next Box Tops submission is coming up THIS Friday, Nov 1st! Please send in your clip-able Box Tops with your student to give their teacher. The next expiration deadline is also 11/1/19, so check your pantry and clip ‘em before they expire. You can also use the new app to earn even more money for our school. Thanks for your support!
