Stenwood Hive Happenings

Hive Happenings Newsletter

Dear Stenwood Families,

It has been a wonderful first quarter!  We have enjoyed seeing so many of you in the building for our parent invite activities over the last couple of weeks.  We love celebrating our learning with all of you.  Many of you have been or soon will be attending parent-teacher conferences; thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to partner with us.

We hope you have a fabulous four day weekend!  Don’t forget to set your clocks back this weekend!

Sincerely,
Erica Riley, Principal
Meredith Mitchell, Assistant Principal

STUDENT-PARENT SURVEY FOR FEDERAL IMPACT AID

We are still in need of several forms to be turned in. Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3.  All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by TODAY October 30. All results are CONFIDENTIAL.

Veterans Day Breakfast

The Stenwood SCA cordially invites you to attend a special Veterans Day breakfast in your honor on Monday, Nov. 11 from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m.  We would like to recognize you for your brave and honorable duty to our country.  Stenwood parents, grandparents, or siblings who have served or are serving in the military are invited to come.

Please RSVP here by Friday, November 1st.

Positivity Project: Bravery

Week of 11/4-11/8, we will focus on Bravery

You act with mental, moral, or physical strength even when you know things are difficult or scary.

“Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, ‘I will try again tomorrow.’ ” ~Mary Anne Radmacher

Questions you might enjoy talking about:
• What are some situations that may call for bravery?
• What are the differences between moral, mental, and physical bravery?
• Why is it sometimes difficult to be brave?

This year’s theme is Media Balance and Well-Being: Developing a Healthy Relationship with Your Technology. Our school is celebrating Digital Citizenship Week with spirit days and activities focused on developing healthy habits around technology use. Parents can also choose to sign up to receive text messages from Common Sense Media with Tips for Health Tech Balance (for children ages 3-8).
