SLHS News and Announcements 10-29-19

Dear Seahawk Families:

Last week was our annual Homecoming celebration. The week was full of crazy dress up days, games at lunch, an awesome pep rally, a hyped powder-puff football game, fantastic parade with strong community participation and involvement from our pyramid schools, a victorious football game and lastly the dance with about 1100 students in attendance. Thank you to all the parents who supported the efforts both at home and here at various events. A special shoutout to our Booster parent volunteers for covering seven different activities last week! We sincerely appreciate the support of our staff too during this crazy week with an extra heartful thank you to Jill Pellerin, Lyn Fiscus, Lisa Comerford and Cindi Davis.

This is the last week of 1st quarter. FCPS will suspend progress reports being sent to parents from Wednesday October 30th- Friday November 8th. Parents will not be able to access ParentVue from Friday, November 1st at 4pm until Saturday, November 9th at 6am while quarter grade are being completed.

It is a long weekend for students. Staff have workdays on Monday (11/4) and Tuesday (11/5). Wednesday will be Green Day to start second quarter.

Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact AID

FCPS asks that all families fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid. Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an anticipated $3 million dollars in grant funds each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers. For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by October 30. All results are CONFIDENTIAL.
