Parent Survey

One of our school priorities this school year is to further our community engagement in student learning.  To help us with this work, we ask that you please complete this survey to share information with our staff on how we can best partner with you to support your student.

We value your input!  Thank you for taking a few moments to complete the survey.

ACT/SOS Screenings

On November 18th and 19th, the RCMS clinical team will be providing their annual "ACT - Acknowledge, Care, Tell" wellness lesson and screener to all 7th graders.  Students will take part in these lessons through their Health and PE class.  You can learn more about the content of this program, as well as view the Opt-Out letter, using the link below.

FCPS Outstanding Employee Awards

Nominations are now open for the FCPS Outstanding Employee Awards for the 19-20 school year!

Is there a teacher or staff member at Rachel Carson Middle School who you feel has gone above and beyond to make a difference for our students and families?  Here is your opportunity to recognize someone for their great contributions!

Below is the link to nominate an RCMS staff member for the FCPS Outstanding Employee Awards for the 19-20 school year.  Feel free to browse all of the awards categories and submit a name or several names for consideration. The initial nomination takes only a few paragraphs to submit.  If your nominee is chosen to move on as our school winner, then additional write-ups and documentation will be required of you.  Nominations close on November 15.

Please contact Veronica Delaney (our Awards liaison) with questions that you might have about this process.

Thanks for your time and thought!

Halloween Costumes

Halloween Costumes

Students are permitted to wear costumes on Thursday, October 31.  As we specify with other spirit/dress-up days, costumes must comply with the FCPS dress code.  No hats, masks, props, or excessive make-up will be permitted.

Leftover Halloween Candy?

The SCA is partnering with Treats for Troops, an organization that gives our country’s service members and veterans excess Halloween candy. If your family has any leftover Halloween candy please consider bringing the candy into Carson on November 1-8. Students can drop off their candy in the main office or outside Ms. Donlen’s room, A-209.

Other FCPS Schools are Sharing....

Tune in here to find out what other schools are sharing about activities and events that may be of interest to you.

From South Lakes HS: South Lakes High School will hold an IB Information Night on November 7 at 6:30PMn the South Lakes lecture hall for parents of middle school students considering the International Baccalaureate Program.

From Westfield HS: Westfield High School will host a community showing of the movie Angst, a documentary featuring interviews with kids and young adults who suffer, or have suffered, from anxiety and what they've learned about it. We invite all families in the Westfield Pyramid to attend on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 6:30PM in the Westfield Auditorium.

From Chantilly HS: The CHS girls’ soccer and field hockey players are haunting the high school cafeteria once again. So, enter if you dare. They have conjured up ghoulish spirits to create an evening of spine tingling fright at their eighth annual haunted house.  Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door and can be purchased at www.CHSHauntedHouse.com. There will also be a small games/craft area for those with low scare tolerances. As a special treat, we also have Hypnotist Russell Hausman working his spells on the audience. There will also be refreshments for sale.
