Deadline to Return Federal Impact Aid Survey is Next Wednesday, October 30.

FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid that was sent home with students this week. Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3.  All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by October 30. All results are confidential.

Box Tops Deadline Coming Up

Our next Box Tops submission is coming up on Nov 1st! Please send in your clip-able Box Tops with your student to give their teacher! The next expiration deadline is also 11/1/19, so check your pantry and clip ‘em before they expire. You can also use the new app to earn even more money for our school. Thanks for your support!

Important School Directory Information

We will be publishing our 2019-20 School Directory online soon.  All parents are encouraged to verify and edit their own directory listings. To ensure we have the most up-to-date information for your family, please follow the instructions in our emails on 10/10 or 10/17 that contain your specific username and verify your data. You can also modify which info you want to include in the directory.  This will only take 5 minutes of your time. If you have any questions, contact HerndonPTAMembership@gmail.com.

Spirit Night Coordinator Still Needed

If you have been wanting to lend a hand but don't have more than a couple hours a month, this is a great way to contribute!  Most of the Spirit Nights are already lined up.  We just need someone to print the flyers, serve as a contact with the restaurant, and keep us on track!  If you're interested, contact Alysia at herndonptavolunteers@gmail.com

Bee the Hive Fundraiser

Our fourth annual “Bee the Hive” No-Fuss Fundraiser has started off with a huge buzzzz! All the money raised will go directly to fund programs that help our students!  We also encourage you to see if your employer offers a matching grants program. The PTA will be collecting donations through Friday, November 1.  Contributions are tax-deductible, and letters verifying your donation can be provided upon request. Every donation makes a difference!  Donate today at https://herndonespta.com/donate/!

Fall for Field Day

After you get all the "eeks!" out of your system at Spooky Bingo, give your heart a tweak at Field Day on the following Tuesday, October 29.   It will be a fun-filled day that combines opportunities for students to learn about healthy wellness habits and have fun participating in fun fitness activities!  Cheer the kids on at a station by signing up here

volunteers

Volunteers needed in the HES School Health Room

If any parent or guardian would be interested in volunteering for a few hours in the clinic when Miss Mercy is out for training or sickness---please contact her at 703-326-3110.  It is very rewarding to help children when they are not feeling well or hurt.  You would administer basic care and call parents when necessary.  You WOULD NOT have to give medicine to students, only trained staff can do that.  Our wonderful public health nurse, Nicole Morales, would personally train you at the school.  Please consider this opportunity to help at your child’s school and feel appreciated!  Thank you for considering.
