Daugherty

Dear Beech Tree Families,

I am excited to share with you that our Dr. Kristen Hollen, STEM Teacher, was recognized with an FCPS Excellence Award last week. We are fortunate to have so many dedicated, intelligent staff members at Beech Tree and we are so very grateful to have Dr. Hollen as a colleague.

Tomorrow, October 24th, Beech Tree will be visited by our Superintendent, Dr. Scott Brabrand, as well as the FCPS camera crew. We are happy to have him stop by our school.  Ms. Lopez and I would like to invite you to join us tomorrow evening to learn more about Title I in FCPS and at Beech Tree. We will be in the library at 6:30pm. This evening, please be sure to look in your student’s bookbag for the Wednesday Folder. You should have a Picture Day Form for this Friday’s Picture Day, should you wish to order a package. We recommend that you send in a personal check, as they can be voided if a student loses them. If you choose to send in cash, please send in the exact amount. It’s not possible for our office staff to make change. Thank you!

Next week, we will have our annual Character Day Parade on Thursday, October 31st. Ms. Lopez and I are excited to surprise our students with our “furry” costumes to honor this year’s Disney Musical, “The Jungle Book!”

Please continue to remind students about hand washing and sneezing into their elbows or armpits. Some students and staff have had viruses that have resulted in sinus infections and some have also had flu-like symptoms. We are reminding students to wash their hands often here at school and our custodial crew are disinfecting classrooms and bathrooms.  We appreciate your doctor notes and your keeping our students home when they are contagious. As adults, we are doing our best not to share the illness by coming into school sick, too! Please continue to ensure our students are here on time and on a daily basis when they are not sick. Whenever students have frequent tardies and/or absences, it is difficult for them to keep up with the learning at the same rater as their peers. Our staff provide interventions and supports for students, as needed, but they have to be present for them to have a positive impact. Thank you for you constant partnership!

Reminders:

  • Thursday, October 24th, Title I Parent Meeting in the library at 6:30pm
  • Friday, October 25th, Fall Picture Day
  • Thursday, October 31st, Character Day Parade

As always, thank you for your trust and feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
